Host Bidding Process
IWF Qualifiers for LA2028

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has opened the Bidding Process for the Hosting Rights of the IWF Qualifiers for LA2028 (2026–2028).

The IWF plans to organize five (5) “IWF Qualifiers for LA2028”, which will serve as qualification events for the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028, in addition to other Continental and World events that will be listed in the Olympic Qualification System.

These events will take place within the official Olympic qualification period.

Please find below the tentative schedule for these events:

• 1^st IWF Qualifier for LA2028 – December 2026
• 2^nd IWF Qualifier for LA2028 – February / March 2027
• 3^rd IWF Qualifier for LA2028 – June 2027
• 4^th IWF Qualifier for LA2028 – November 2027
• 5^th IWF Qualifier for LA2028 – January 2028

In accordance with the updated IWF Host Member Federation Bidding Procedure for IWF Events, Member Federations interested in hosting one of these prestigious and significant events are kindly requested to submit the following documents by Monday, 05 January 2026, 17:00 CET, via email to competition@nulliwf.sport:

• Letter of Intent (template available in this LINK)
• Proof of payment of the Bidding Fee
• Completed Host Bidding Questionnaire
• Guarantee and Support Letters

The successful Hosts will be selected during the upcoming IWF Executive Board meetings, scheduled for early next year.
