HERNANDEZ Yoelmis from Group B on the 3rd place of the podium!

ZIELINSKI Adrian (POL) displayed an explosive performance and won 3 medals including the gold in Total. After an unfortunate accident the Armenian lifter KHACHATRYAN Ara had his elbow seriously injured during his first attempt of Clean & Jerk. He was not able to continue the competition any more, there for his coach went up on stage to take over his gold medal for Snatch where he performed 175kg. YUFKIN Aleksey (RUS) won the bronze in Snatch, and managed to take the silver medal in Total with 380kg which was 3kg less than the Polish lifters result. Bulgaria won 2 medals while their athlete LAHUN Siarhei finished first in Clean & Jerk ahead HERNANDEZ Yoelmis (CUB) who stepped forward from Group B to the podium. CWF confident Delhi 2010 Games will be successful despite alarming news

The Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation, in its latest newsletter signed by Secretary General Paul Coffa, expresses confidence in the success of the 2010 Commonwealth Games despite some alarming news recently coming from Delhi, India. As it is known, reports went around the world about the falling of the false roof of the new weightlifting hall and unsatisfactory conditions in the athletes' village. However, teams from the Commonwealth countries are now arriving in Delhi and everything seems to be under control and progressing. Read the CWF newsletter about the forecasts in weightlifting.

Kazakh-Russian Podium

On the 21st of September, in women's 75kg no one managed to be just as good as PODOBEDOVA Svetlana (KAZ) who couldn't be dethroned. World Champion in 2009, she now won the 3 gold medals after performing serial good lifts. During a stressful tactical fight the Russian lifter ZABOLOTNAYA Svetlana broke PODOBEDOVA's World Records in both Snatch and Clean & Jerk taking leading position, but with a high technical superiority and grim determination the Kazakh athlete took the leading position back by not only breaking these previous records but also by setting a new one in Total with 295kg.
