Chiang Mai to host 2014 FISU World Championships!

The FISU Executive Board unanimously decided to allocate the organisation of the next World University Weightlifting Championships in 2014 to Chiang Mai, Thailand. A delegation of the University Sports Board of Thailand with TAWA made a successful bid presentation at the FISU headquarters in Brussels last Saturday. The 2014 WUC will be held at the North-Chiang Mai University and carried out with the support of TAWA in the same venue that hosted the 1997 and 2007 World Championships and the 1st Youth World

Houston 2015 hosted the first site visit

One of Houston’s next significant international sports event is the 2015 IWF World Championships. It is the 4th largest city in the United States with over 2.1 million residents. Delegates of the International Weightlifting Federation led by IWF President Dr. Tamas Ajan were in the city for an official site visit on Wednesday 20 February 2013. The winning bid to host the 2015 IWF World Championships was presented by Houston Harrison County Sport Commission, USA Weightlifting and the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) therefor Janis Schmees, Houston Sport Authority CEO, Michael Massik, USAWL CEO and Dragomir Cioroslan, IWF Vice President were great hosts of the Technical Visit. The official accommodation of the delegations will be the HILTON AMERICAS, luxury 5 stars hotel, located in the heart of downtown Houston. The venue to host the event will be the George R.
