MARTIROSYAN became World Champion

MARTIROSYAN Simon was Olympic second and European Champion already, and now he is World Champion. In the Snatch, the 21 years old Armenian lifter had to settle for the Silver Medal with 195kg, because YANG Zhe (CHN) lifted 1kg more than him making it to 196kg. Afterward though, MARTIROSYAN dominated the field. In the Clean and Jerk, he went for 230kg and 240kg, both World Records and also set the Total World Record at 425kg and even 435kg. In the Clean and Jerk and in the Total, he won the Gold Medals. „I knew I will have a lot of strong competitors. Double Iranian victory in the men’s 102kg

Two Iranian stood on the top of the podium in the men’s 102kg bodyweight category. 2017 World Champion, HASHEMI Ali won the Gold in the Total with 396kg, after being second in the Snatch (179kg) and third in the Clean and Jerk (217kg). His compatriot BEIRALVAND Reza was only fourth in the Snatch (175kg) but won the Clean and Jerk (218kg) claiming the Bronze medal in the Total with 393kg. Ukranian CHUMAK Dmytro had the same result and got the Silver Medal in Total, the Bronze (176kg) in the Snatch and Silver in the Clean and Jerk (217). VALENTIN Lidia won the women’s 81kg

Spanish VALENTIN PEREZ Lidia won the Snatch with a big advantage, ranked third in the Clean and Jerk and won the Gold Medal in the Total with 249kg. The 33-year-old legend, who has an Olympic Medal of every colour, claimed the World Champion title again after 2017 with 258kg in the 75kg bodyweight category. This time she finished on top of a new bodyweight category. Being third in the Clean and Jerk as she missed her second attempt at 136kg making it a good lift only at her last attempt. Belarus NAUMAVA Darya, third in the Snatch went for 130kg-135kg and even lifted 137kg. She got the Gold Medal in the Clean and Jerk and Silver in the Total with a result of 245kg - 4kg behind VALENTIN. "I competed in a higher bodyweight category than usual because I had an injury in my shoulder and I didn't want to be exhausted losing weight a few days before the competition. Three lifters awarded with Olympic Medals

An Awarding Ceremony was held in Ashgabat, to accolade three lifters with Olympic Medals from 2012 London and 2016 Rio. GULNOI Siripuch (THA), who competed under the name of GULNOI Rattikan at the time, received the Bronze Medal for her performance in the women's 58kg bodyweight category in London, 2012. MOHAMMADPOURKARKARAGH Saeid (IRI) was also awarded a London Olympic Medal, forthcoming to the first place of the men's 94kg bodyweight category. The women’s 76kg bodyweight category brought Chinese success as WANG defeated the two times Olympic Champion RIM. In the Snatch, WANG Zhouyu, Asian Champion in 2015, was still behind the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Champion RIM Jong Sim (PRK), lifting 119kg while WANG did 118kg. In the Clean and Jerk though, the tide of the struggle turned, the Chinese lifter succeeded at 152kg while RIM couldn’t go over 150kg, leaving her on the second place both in the Clean and Jerk and in the Total with 269kg opposed to WANG’s 270kg.   "This was my first World Championships and I won.
