The Olympic Champion was defeated
The women’s 76kg bodyweight category brought Chinese success as WANG defeated the two times Olympic Champion RIM.
In the Snatch, WANG Zhouyu, Asian Champion in 2015, was still behind the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Champion RIM Jong Sim (PRK), lifting 119kg while WANG did 118kg.
In the Clean and Jerk though, the tide of the struggle turned, the Chinese lifter succeeded at 152kg while RIM couldn’t go over 150kg, leaving her on the second place both in the Clean and Jerk and in the Total with 269kg opposed to WANG’s 270kg.
“This was my first World Championships and I won. In the future, I will try to perform even better and win more medals.” – said WANG after the event.
Columbian SOLIS ARBOLEDA Leidy Yesserina earned the Bronze Medal in the Clean and Jerk with 146kg, while 20 years old DAJOMES BARRERA Neisi Patricia (ECU) claimed Bronze in the Snatch and Total. DAJOMES also set 5 Junior World Records, ending at 142kg in the Clean and Jerk and 259kg in Total.
