Regional Course in Tata, Hungary

In the framework of the IWF Development Program, a course was held on Friday November 26 in Tata, Hungary. During the Opening Ceremony, the President of the Hungarian Weightlifting Federation, Mr. Imre Dobos said an inaugural speech and welcomed the IWF delegates and all participants. The administrative seminar gave useful information about the IWF's organization and functioning. It dealt with numerous topics useful for National Federations such as anti-doping issues and procedures, recent rule modifications and the 2012 London Olympic Qualification System.Besides Hungarian coaches and athletes, several delegates from Serbia and Slovakia also participated in the course. After the lectures, the attendees had the possibility to initiate informal discussions about the difficulties they are facing in their everyday activities within their Federations, and shared constructive functional

4 years ban for an Anti-Doping Code violation!

The IWF is the only Olympic sport – according to the recent meeting of the WADA Executive Board – that has established the 4 year ban for the first violation of its Anti-Doping Code. Since its introduction – for over 2 years – of such strict sanctions, in over 40 cases athletes received the 4 year ban. Asian Games Puts Guangzhou on World Map

The 16th Asian Games, part of the worldwide Olympic movement and governed by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), came to an end Friday November 26 with Guangzhou taking its place as a major world destination.   The Guangzhou Asian Games was the largest in OCA history with 9,704 athletes from 45 Asian countries and regions attending along with 4,983 team officials, 4,191 technical officials and 9,939 media professionals from 888 media organizations.   A total 1,400 random doping tests have been carried out, including both urine tests and blood tests with only two positive test results.    During the Closing Ceremony on Haixinsha Island, the theme was “Please Leave Your Song Behind”, echoing the theme of the Opening Ceremony. The Asian Games flag handover ceremony also took place from Guangzhou to the 2014 Incheon Asian Games Organizing Committee.

HOA Commemorative Assembly in Budapest, Hungary
