Olympic Test Event schedule confirmed!

The Test Event programme for London 2012 has been confirmed with the collaboration of the IFs working on it closely with LOCOG. The events will vary in scale and each event will fully test the field of play and technology systems. Test Events will also enable the public to see exciting competitive sport in Olympic venues for the first time. Education seminar at the IWF Clubs Grand Prix

The IWF seized the opportunity of the 1st Continental Clubs Grand Prix and Jr. Commonwealth Championships to hold an Educational Seminar in Penang, Malaysia, before the first competition day on 12th December 2010. Renowned and experienced lecturers presented the following topics: Mr. Sam Coffa, IWF Vice-President and Chairman of the IWF Technical Committee started on Technical issues while Mr. Attila Adamfi, IWF Competition Director gave general information about Sports Organizations and Competitions. Matthew Curtain Weightlifting Manager of LOCOG spoke about the preparations undergoing for the 2012 Olympics.  Dr. Monika Ungar, IWF Legal Counsel gave up to date information about Anti-Doping issues and presented ADAMS that will be obligatory from the 1st April 2011. Mr. Aveenash Pandoo, National Coach of South Africa and Development Director of WFA gave information about the latest methods for Coaches. More then 50 athletes, coaches and officials from several countries such as Malaysia, India, Lebanon, Yemen, Great Britain and from Republic of South Africa participated in the seminar. Competitions started in Penang at the 1st IWF Continental Clubs Grand Prix

The Welcome dinner of the 1st IWF Continental Clubs Grand Prix was attended by numerous dignitaries of Malaysia and the International Weightlifting leaders, including Sam Coffa, Vice President, Ong Poh Eng, Executive Board Member and Paul Coffa, Oceania and Commonwealth Federations’ General Secretary. „For Malaysia hosting this prestigious weightlifting event is a great honour,” said The Right Honorable Chief Minister of Penang Mr. Lin Guan Eng, when addressing the participants of the welcome dinner. Madame Yang Berhmormat Lydia Ong Kok Fooi, State Minister for Penang Youth and Sports also emphasized: “Penang is proud to host the inaugural IWF Continental Clubs Grand Prix and we definitely regard it as a dress rehearsal for the 2011 Junior World Championships we shall be hosting here next June.” The Honorable Vinson Detenamo, President of the Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation and En. Zafarul Akbar bin Haji Kassin, President of the Malaysian Weightlifting Federation were also in attendance. The Matahari Ballroom of the Equatorial Hotel was decorated beautifully and the organizers staged a wonderful folk dancing show involving the audience during the 8- course delicious dinner. The competitions started yesterday for about 100 weightlifters out of 20 countries who are competing in the 1st Intercontinental Clubs Grand Prix. IWF Development Program in Thailand

Under the IWF Development Program in the category of Regional Training Center, Thailand will organize an international workshop to be held December 16-20 in Cholburee.
