Successful completion for the inaugural Clubs Grand Prix

India bagged the highest number of gold medals at the inaugural IWF Continental Clubs Grand Prix and Junior Commonwealth Championships at the Penang International Sports Arena within women. The Social Health Club (IND) won the Prize Money of 5,000 $ with an outstanding performance ending up first in Team Classification right before Penang Club (MAS) and MSN (MAS) who took third place. In men's competition, the 5,000 $ Prize Money was awarded to the Services Sport Club (IND) who won the Team Classification while second place went to Universal (IND). The Nauruan club Marcus managed to grab third place. All 5 continents were represented in Penang, either with athletes or officials. According to the statements of Madame Yang Berhmormat Lydia Ong Kok Fooi, State Minister for Penang Youth and Sports during the successful closing banquet: "Hosting the inaugural IWF Continental Clubs Grand Prix in Penang has increased Malaysia's involvement in sport life and improved its great commitment to weightlifting sport! The determination to build a new competition venue gives us great hope in organizing even Senior World Championships in the close future!" International seminar for coaches in Pattaya, Thailand

Under the guidance of the IWF Development program, the Thai Amateur Weightlifting Association (TAWA) hold an International Seminar for Asian coaches in Pattaya, Cholburi Province, Thailand from 17-20 December. The seminar was honorably presided over by Mr. Itthipol Khunplome, Major of Pattaya City.  More then 20 nations including Thailand and over 100 participants joined the practical seminar. IOC impressed by astonishing progress in London

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has reported that preparations are advancing at an astonishing rate following the latest Coordination Commission visit to London. During the three-day visit, the Commission, led by Chairman Denis Oswald, received updates on the progress made since its last visit in July, and visited a number of venues, including Wembley Arena, Earls Court, Hadleigh Farm, The Royal Artillery Barracks and the new Velodrome being built in the Olympic Park. 'We can see the pieces of the puzzle falling into place now, and the big picture is rapidly becoming visible,' said Mr Oswald. 'Preparations are advancing at an astonishing rate and LOCOG, the ODA and their partners should be congratulated for the high quality of the work they are producing across this complex project.'
