Cyclones hit Oceania region

Unprecedented weather caused tragedy in Australia

Unprecedented weather has caused drastic loss and devastation in the Oceania region.  The floods which have devastated the state of Queensland in Australia have also come with the tragedy of losing two members of the weightlifting family in Australia.  On the 10th January, Steve and Sandra Matthews were swept away in tragic circumstances as a result of flash flooding.  Both of them were members of the Toowoomba Weightlifting Association.  Steve was a competitor, official and volunteer representing both Queensland and Australia as a Masters athlete. At the 2010 Toowoomba Weightlifting Association annual awards function, Steve Matthews was named as the Toowoomba Weightlifting Association Club Member of the Year. Greek weightlifting is investing in the future

According to reports quoting Federation President Pyrros Dimas, the Greek Weightlifting Federation carried out more than 120 doping tests in 2010 including in and out of competition testing. Today, 21st January 2011, is the last day open for the voting of World Weightlifting's Best Lifters of 2010. Before 24:00h CET tonight you may still cast your vote on this website for the top 3 female and top 3 male weightlifters of the year 2010 who should receive, in your opinion, the "Jeno Boskovics Best Lifter Trophy".
