First day of lectures at the IWF World Anti-Doping Conference

On the first day of the IWF World Anti-Doping Conference, Yunus Akgün Turkish Minister of Sport addressed a welcome speech to all participants. A high and rich program was presented in 4 sessions. 10 valuable and interesting lectures were heard.

Dr. Tamás Aján, IWF President cast a historic perspective on the Anti-Doping activities in International Sports within the IWF.

Chairmen of the IWF Anti-Doping Commission, Mr. Nicu Vlad emphasized that to work efficiently in our fight against doping, we have to focus on prevention and education.

Dr. Mónika Ungár’s highly informative presentation on the IWF’s Anti-Doping Program titled “A success story?!” was very well received by the participants.

Mr. Frédéric Donzé, WADA Director; European Regional Office and IF Relations gave a comprehensive overview of WADA’s Anti-Doping activities.

Head of the Hungarian NADO, Dr. Ágnes Tiszeker explained the Anti-Doping controls a testing agency’s overview.

Dr. Jaroslaw Krywanski made a presentation on the International Standards for Therapeutic Use Exemptions.

Mr. Boris Kayser, Chairmen of the IWF Hearing Panel gave a detailed explanation of the rights and obligations connected with “A Fair Hearing”.

Delegates were keen to hear the latest Analytical Strategies for Detection in Elite Sport from Prof. Wilhelm Schänzer, Head of the Laboratory for Doping Analysis German Sports University Cologne.

Dr. Michael Irani’s lecture focused on the food supplements and their danger in causing a positive sample.

IWF General Secretary Mr. Ma Wenguang informed the participants about the “Fight Against Doping in China”.
