World’s strongest Women lifted 190kg

Men’s 94kg MAKARANKA, IVANOV and SEDOV – order of the podium in the Snatch. All three athletes ended on 180kg, and bodyweight gave the final order. In the Clean & Jerk, MAKARANKA ended only 7th and couldn’t follow the lead. It seemed that the Kazakh lifter UTESHOV Almas will be awarded the Gold, by the lighter IVANOV Alexandr (RUS) also managed to lift 222kg placing him first. With 402kg in the Total, the World Champion in the Men’s 94kg is IVANOV Alexandr (RUS). Two Silver and two Bronze Medals were awarded to the two Kazakh lifters UTESHOV and SEDOV for their Clean & Jerk and Total. Women’s +75kg In the Snatch, the Olympic and World Champion ZHOU Lulu (CHN) won the Gold with 146kg where the World Record holder KASHIRINA Tatiana (RUS) ended only second. The Russian lifter missed twice on 147kg in the Snatch. The Clean & Jerk displayed an exciting competition between these two impressive lifters. Not coming out for the third attempt, ZHOU Lulu (CHN) lifted 182kg. Jumping from 180kg to 190kg and at the same time setting a New World Record in the Clean & Jerk, KASHIRINA Tatiana (RUS) won the Gold Medal also in the Total. Men’s 85kg Silver Medallist at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, RYBAKOU Andrei (BLR) won the Gold Medal in the Snatch with 179kg. The Bulgarian lifter MARKOV Ivan ended up second with 175kg while AUKHADOV Apti (RUS) – lifting the same weight won the Bronze. Junior World Champion, European Champion, Olympic Silver Medallist, Apti had no challenger in the Clean & Jerk and is now World Champion with a Total of 387kg . Youth, Junior and European Champion OKULOV Artem (RUS) missed the Silver Medal in the Total, MARKOV being lighter once again. The Final Rank was AUKHADOV, MARKOV, OKULOV. Displaying an impressive performance in the Clean & Jerk, the Cuban lifter HERNANDEZ Yoelmis (CUB) won a Bronze. The Olympic Champion in the Men’s 85kg bodyweight category ZIELINSKI Adrian Edward (POL) ended only 4th. Women’s 75kg The 2 times Junior World Champion and Silver Medallist at the IWF 2011 Paris WWC Chinese lifter KANG Yue (CHN) had great chances in winning the Gold; however in the end, the Women’s 75kg displayed two Russian lifters fight for the World Champion title. KANG won the Gold in the Snatch with 1 kg over ZUBOVA Olga (RUS), and with 5kg over EVSTYUKHINA Nadezda (RUS) failing two times her attempt on 125kg. This gave place for VALENTIN PEREZ Lidia (ESP) – winning the Bronze Medal in the Snatch. ZUBOVA Olga (RUS) lifted 157kg in the Clean & Jerk and the World Champion title with 282kg. Women’s 69kg Above all other competitors, XIANG Yanmei (CHN) secured her medals in both lifts. With 123kg in the Snatch, 148kg in the Clean & Jerk and a Total of 271kg, the 2013 IWF World Championships saw the crowning of the 3rd Chinese Women World Champion. With two missed Clean & Jerk attempts, RYO Un Hui (PRK) still got on the second place of the Podium with a Total of 259kg. Winning Silver in the Clean & Jerk by bodyweight, London 2012 Olympic 4th SAZANAVETS Dzina (BLR) was awarded the Bronze Medal for her Total. Men’s 77kg LU Xiaojun (CHN) came out on 165kg after all others already ended their competition in the Snatch. Women’s 63kg The Russian lifter TURIEVA Tima, Junior World Champion in 2011 and Junior European Champion in 2012 had an exemplary competition. With 6 good lifts and a victory by bodyweight in the Clean & Jerk (140kg), she ended up on the first place of the Podium and won 3 Gold. Second place of the Podium, JO Pok Hyang (PRK) participated at the Asian Championships in Pyongyang earlier this year where she also earned a Silver. Junior World Champion in 2009 and in 2010, Asian Champion in 2012 DENG Mengrong (CHN) lightest in her bodyweight category was awarded 3 Bronze Medals. Men’s 69kg Men’s 69kg competition was full of excitement. The Chinese lifter LIAO Hui won it all. Gold in the Snatch with 160kg, Word Record – Gold Medal in the Clean & Jerk with 198kg and World Record – Gold Medal in the Total with 358kg. Celebrating his World Champion title on the podium in Wroclaw, LIAO Hui said at the press conference: “I enjoyed competing in such a good atmosphere, and it is motivating to compete against these very good competitors. Women’s 58kg Coming out at 133kg for her first attempt in the Clean & Jerk, and only good attempt, the Asian Champion (2013) and Summer Universiade Gold Medallist, KUO Hsing-Chun (TPE) won the Gold Medal in the Total with 241kg. Gold Medallist in the Snatch, DENG Wei (CHN) came out on the same weight three times in the Clean & Jerk without succeeding any. Same happened to RI Jong Hwa (PRK) ending with no Total and no successful Clean & Jerk attempt. Several times Pan-American Champion, with 103kg in the Snatch, 122kg in the Clean & Jerk and 225kg in the Total, ESCOBAR GUERRERO Maria Alexandra (ECU) earned one Bronze and two Silver Medals. The Russian lifter SHADRINA Elena wasn’t expected to the podium, but grabbed the third place and the Bronze Medal. Men’s 62kg Junior World Champion in 2010, CHEN Lijun (CHN) got the Silver in the Snatch with 146kg. After two missed Clean & Jerk attempts, he had a last chance to win the Gold Medal – and got it! 30 Years of Women’s Weightlifting

1983-2013 This Year Women’s Weightlifting marks its 30 years Anniversary. Considered as a big novelty at that time, Women showed great determination to participate in this sport, traditionally considered as masculine. Women wanted to compete and most of all they wanted equality. In 1983, the IWF Executive Board unanimously accepted to control Women’s Weightlifting and opened the way for female athletes in this sport. The first International Women’s Tournament was held in Budapest, Hungary on 23 March 1986. This was followed by World and Continental Championships of all age groups and finally in 2000 the big dream came true: Women’s Weightlifting was included in the Olympic program and made its debut in Sydney. Celebrating 30 Years of history eight ladies who have played an outstanding role in the making of Women’s Weightlifting received special award at a Ceremony held in Wroclaw.
