2013 President’s Cup overall

The Russian President’s Cup, traditionally organized by the Russian Weightlifting Federation since its first edition in 2011 was once again an outstanding success.

In the Women’s 75kg, after a 4th place at the IWF World championships, the Spanish lifter Lidia Valentin ended first.

The most prominent figure of this year’s President’s Cup was Tatiana Kashirina (RUS), who won the +75 kg category competition setting a World Record.

“I wasn’t expecting to break the records” – she said after lifting 334kg and breaking the World Record of Zhou Lulu (CHN) at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Besides the five thousand dollars awarded for the victory, she received an extra bonus of six thousand dollars for breaking the World Record.

Lifters from Syria, like Ahed Joughili (SYR), Silver Medallist at the 2011 Asian Championships in the Men’s 105kg and lifters from Thailand like Praeonapa KHENJANTUEK (THA) Silver Medallist at the 2013 Asian Championships in the Women +75kg also participated in the competition.

The Men’s 94kg competition ended with the victory of Ramazan Rasulov (RUS).

Bartlomiej Bonk (POL), bronze medallist at the London 2012 Olympic Games and at the 2013 IWF World Championships was one of the favourites; he ended 5th in the 105kg category. Maxim Sheyko (RUS) won the Gold Medal.

In the Men’s +105kg, Attia Masoud Mohamed Ehssan (EGY) won the Gold Medal lifting a Total of 422kg.

The Russian Weightlifting Federation delivered a high level organization, and lifters displayed impressive strength in the exciting competitions.
