FISU Launches Candidatures for 2014 WUC

BRUSSELS - Alternating with the Universiades, every two years FISU organises World University Championships for the sports accepted by the FISU Executive Committee.FISU is now pleased to officially launch the candidatures for the 2014 World University Championships. Weightlifting is among the recognised sports; as we remember, the 1st FISU WUC was held in 2008, Komotini, GRE; the 2nd WUC took place in Taichung, TPE in 2010. The 2012 World University Championships in Weightlifting is already allocated by FISU to Eilat, ISR. The application must be submitted by the FISU national member associations, but of course, no such Championships could be carried out without the help of the IWF affiliated member.We wish to encourage the IWF membership to support an application to host the 2014 World University

Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony between CWF and TAWA

The Cambodian Weightlifting Federation (CWF) and the Thai Amateur Weightlifting Association (TAWA) held a Ceremony on March 2, 2011 at the National Olympic Stadium of Phanom Penh, in the Kingdom of Cambodia in order to promote weightlifting sport in South East Asian (SEA) region under theme of GO TOGETHER in friendship and brotherhood. Mr. Chan SOPHAL - CWF President - and Major General Intarat YODBANGTOEY - TAWA President - cosigned a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a bilateral cooperation and support program. Mr. Chan SOPHAL said: "On behalf of CWF, I am thankful for TAWA's donation and support. This is a very good opportunity for CWF to move to capability strengthening and professionalism in WF. This kind assistance and support is the true reflection of our spirit of solidarity and unity which goes beyond current issue. Sport spirit is the basic need of all human being not for a handful of people". TAWA president also delivered a key message "Please keep in mind our sport seamlessly nested in our hearts indeed which is independent and beyond from other issues. We are in the weightlifting family that could feel in warmest, following through our strong intention and trustworthiness, I am personally confident that CWF and TAWA are able to go further together."
