Mohamed Yousef Al Mana is the new AWF President

The AWF Congress in Tashkent continued on 10 March 2011 with the elections.Mr. Mohamed Yousef Al Mana (QAT) was elected President of the Asian Weightlifting Federation by acclamation, after the withdrawal of all the other candidates. Ali Moradi (IRI) was elected General Secretary with 31 votes against Tom Liaw (SIN) and after the withdrawal of Niwat Limsuknirun (THA) and Mohammad Hasan Jaloud (IRQ). FISU Launches Candidatures for 2014 WUC

BRUSSELS - Alternating with the Universiades, every two years FISU organises World University Championships for the sports accepted by the FISU Executive Committee.FISU is now pleased to officially launch the candidatures for the 2014 World University Championships. Weightlifting is among the recognised sports; as we remember, the 1st FISU WUC was held in 2008, Komotini, GRE; the 2nd WUC took place in Taichung, TPE in 2010. The 2012 World University Championships in Weightlifting is already allocated by FISU to Eilat, ISR. The application must be submitted by the FISU national member associations, but of course, no such Championships could be carried out without the help of the IWF affiliated member.We wish to encourage the IWF membership to support an application to host the 2014 World University
