Elections of the Indian Weightlifting Federation

The Indian Weightlifting Federation held its Annual General Meeting on 30th October 2017 in New Delhi, India. The Elections of the Indian Weightlifting Federation has been conducted under strict guidelines issued by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India with the supervision of Observers from Ministry of Sports and Indian Olympic Association. 1000 days to go until Tokyo 2020

On the countdown day of 28th October, Tokyo 2020 will stage a "1000 Days To Go" celebratory event. The main street of Tokyo’s famous Nihonbashi district will be decorated with new graphics and turned into a giant sports field for the day. After watching demonstrations by athletes, the public will have the opportunity to learn about and practice some of the sports that will make their first appearance in the Olympic Games in 2020. Tokyo 2020 will upload and share photos and videos of the events on their social media platforms throughout the day. Naim Süleymanoğlu’s health condition is improving day by day

Naim Süleymanoglu’s, known as one of the most successful weightlifter in history - the Olympic and world record holder who's nickname is “Pocket Hercules”, was born in Bulgaria on 23 January 1967. He is considered to be one of the most successful athlete of weightlifting history, has broken world record 46 times along with 3 Olympic and 8 World Championship Gold medal throughout his career. Especially at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games, he broke 9 Worlds and 6 Olympics records, achieving a sensational success. In 1992 he was voted “The Best Athlete” in the world by the International Weightlifting Media Commission. In addition to this, Süleymanoglu was elected as Vice President for International Weightlifting Federation in 2000. Recently Naim Süleymanoglu was taken into intensive care at hospital with the diagnosis of “Liver Cirrhosis”.
