IWF Committee Meetings in Kazan

The IWF Committees held their meeting prior to the Junior World Championships in Kazan, RUS. Their first meeting started with a joint meeting for matters of common interest. As the IWF Medical Committee held its extraordinary meeting in Lausanne, SUI on 27 March 2014, the IWF Technical and Coaching and Research Committees sat together in Kazan. Technical Committee The Technical Committee discussed questions on technical and educational matters, notably a standardization of the Weightlifting equipment and refresher courses for Technical Officials. Promotion of more women officials was also discussed along with the criteria for Technical Officials' appointment to IWF Events. The Technical Committee stressed the importance of National, Regional and Continental Federations to strictly abide by the IWF Technical and Competition Rules & Regulation especially in view of the age limit rule for competition. Coaching and Research Committee The new CRC Committee endorsed the 3 IWF Coaching categories to match the IWF TC referee categories and produce appropriate coaching material to match the criteria. Discussion on the IWF age limit for International competition was discussed and there was unanimous support from the CRC for the current 13 age limit. Technical Visit for 2014 IWF WWC – Almaty

IWF Director General Attila Ádámfi and Director Anikó Németh-Móra have conducted a busy and comprehensive technical visit at the venue of the 1st Olympic Qualification World Championships on the Road to Rio 2016. The beautiful city of Almaty has been assigned by the host Weightlifting Federation of Kazakhstan to stage the significant event this coming November. The team of the Organising Committee appointed by WFRK President Zhanat Tusupbekov and under the leadership of Omar Mustafin, CEO had already made advanced preparations and at the visit all technical and organisational details could be finalized. Almaty offers a very convenient and compact World Championships, with the competition venue, training and the hotels for the accommodation being practically adjoining buildings, in walking distance. Facilities and services will be provided at very high level for the participants who are expected to turn out in great numbers in Almaty. State Decoration to Weightlifter Miss Shalinee Valaydon

The Mauritius Amateur Weightlifters’ & Powerlifters’ Association (MAWPLA) is extremely pleased to announce to the Weightlifting Community, that Weightlifter Miss Shalinee Valaydon has received a Decoration of Honor by the President of the Republic of Mauritius Hon. Mr. Kailash Purryag. She has received the Member of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (MSK) distinction in relation to her contribution towards the promotion of Sports in Mauritius. Miss Valaydon became the first ever Weightlifter to have won a Gold medal at the African Weightlifting Championships last year. She is also among the very few Women Sportswomen to have excelled in the African Continent for our country. She is the very first Mauritian Weightlifter to have been decorated. The deadline for the Final Entry Forms for the 2014 IWF Junior World Championships Kazan expires on 5 June. We invite all Member Federations to send their Final Entry Forms promptly to the Russian Weightlifting Federation ([email protected]) and to the IWF ([email protected]).
