Day 6 – 2022 Asian Championships

On day 6 of the 2022 Asian Championships the action continued with Men 89kg and the Women 76kg categories. Men 89kg category The day started with the Men 89kg category where 15 Athletes were competing for the Asian Champion titles. In Snatch, Emil Moldodosov (KGZ) won with 166kg, which was his all time best at international competition. Silver medal went to Assylzhan Bektay (KAZ) with 165kg. Mohammad Zarei (IRI) made the same best lift however as he did it later, he could only take the Bronze medal. In C&J Bektay made a winning lift of 197kg, Masoud Chatrei (IRI) went home with a Silver medal with his lift of 196kg and Moldodosov collected a Bronze with 195kg. The Total podium was as follows: Assylzhan Bektay (KAZ) – 362kg Emil Moldodosov (KGZ) – 361kg Masoud Chatraei (IRI) – 358kg Men 89kg Total Podium @Bahrain Weightlifting Federation Women 76kg category The last competition of the day was the Women 76kg category.  In Snatch, the clear winner was Cuiting Peng (CHN) whose starting lift was 17kgs more than the Silver medalist's best lift, therefore she took Gold with her only good attempt of 115kg. Darkhijav Otgonbayar (MGL) placed second with 98kg and Aray Nurlybekova (KAZ) the third with 97kg. In the C&J portion of the category once again Peng won Gold with 128kg, Silver went to Duangkamon Khongthong (THA) with 125kg, and Nurlybekova added another Bronze medal to her collection with 124kg. Fifth day of the 2022 Asian Championships

On the fifth day of competition it was time for the Women 71kg and Men 81kg categories. Women 71kg category The day started with Group B of this category and followed by the Group A where alltogether 13 athletes were competing. In the Snatch portion of the category, Chinese athlete Qiuxia Yang at her first international event since 2017 took the Gold medal with 106kg. Silver medal went to Gulnabat Kadyrova from Turkmenistan with 102kg, and Anuujin Ganzorig from Mongolia took Bronze with 99kg. In C&J, the two teammates, Tsabitha Alfiah Ramadani and Restu Anggi from Indonesia placed third and second with 118kg, 120kg. The winner was once again Yang with her second lift of 122kg. Total medalist: Qiuxia Yang (CHN) - 228kg Gulnabat Kadyrova (TKM) - 219kg Anuujin Ganzorig (MGL) - 215kg Women 71kg Total Podium @Bahrain Weightlifting Federation Men 81kg category After yesteday's B Group, the A Group finished the fifth day of competition. This session included Rahmat Erwin Abdullah Tokyo 2020 Bronze medalist and World Champion of the M73kg category. In Snatch, the Bronze medal was won by Rahmat Erwin Abdullah (INA) with his second attempt of 151kg. Mukhammadkodir Toshtemirov (UZB) placed 2nd with his first lift of 154kg, after his two last lifts were unsuccessful. The clear winner was Delin Lu (CHN) who didn't leave any chance for the others and with 165kg won the Snatch Gold. In C&J, two athletes from Uzbekistan made a the podium finish: Ogabek Tukhtaev lifted 189kg and earned Bronze, while Toshtemirov collected his second Silver of the day with 192kg. Erwin Abdullah after performing his best C&J at international competition with 198kg finished at 1st place. Day 4 at the 2022 Asian Championships

The fourth day in Manama started with the Men 81kg (Group B) which will have its Group A tomorrow. The action of the day continued with the Women 64kg and Men 73kg categories. Women 64kg category In the first A session of the day Pham Thi Hong Thanh from Vietnam won confidently as she only started both Snatch and Clean&Jerk when all the other athletes finished with their attempts. The winning Snatch and Clean&Jerk was 100kg and 117kg.  In case of Snatch, Thipwara Chontavin from Thailand won Silver with 91kg, while in C&J Sarah from Indonesia placed second with 112kg. Finally the Bronze of Snatch went to Sarah with 89kg, and Wei-Chia Li from Chinese Taipei collected the C&J medal with 111kg. Total Podium of the category: Pham Thi Hong Thanh (VIE) - 217kg Thipwara Chontavin (THA) - 201kg Sarah (INA) - 201kg Pham Thi Hong Thanh (VIE) @IWF Men 73kg category In the Snatch portion of the category we almost witnessed the first World Record (Junior) when Rizki Juniansyah almost broke his own record with the attempt of 158kg but it was a no lift. Even though he didn't accomplish a new World Record he won the category by 9kgs with the lift of 152kg. Second place went to Shulin Xiang from China with 143kg and Doston Yokubov from Uzbekistan completed the Snatch podium with 140kg. The biggest suprise of the category came when Juniansyah bombed out as he tried to lift 186kg three times but he was unsuccessful in all his attempts. This gave the chance for M67kg World Champion, Yokubov who with 182kg became Asian Champion. Xiang added another Silver medal to his collection with his only one good lift of 178kg, and Nawaf Almazyadi from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia finished at third place with 170kg. Gold Medal for China and Uzbekistan -Third Day at the 2022 Asian Championships

The third day of the 2022 Asian Championships featured the Women 59kg and Men 67kg categories. Women 59kg category The Women 59kg started the day in Manama on the third day of the competition where 9 athletes were competiting for the Asian Championships titles.  In the Snatch portion of the program Quang Thi Tam (VIE) with only one good lift (93kg) took Gold. Her best was 4kg more than what she lifted at this years Asian Junior Championships where she also won. Second place went to Enkhtamir Enkhbaatar (MGL) who went 3-from-3 with her best lift being 92kg. The Snatch podium was completed by Xue Long (CHN) who lifted 91kg at her first international competition. In Clean&Jerk, Thi Tam won Bronze with 115kg. While she tried to lift 119kg on her third attempt - which lift would have brought her the Gold in both C&J and Total - sadly it was a no lift. Second place went to Natasya Beteyob (INA) with 116kg and the Asian Champion title went to Xue Long after on her last attempt she could manage 118kg. In this category the ranking of the medalist remained the same throughout the competition: Uzbek athlete Adkhamjon Ergashev won it all with 138-176-314kg, Mohammad Yasin from Indonesia took Silver with 137-166-303kg, while Anucha Doungsri from Thailand placed third with 136-165-301kg. Junior Asian Record for Malaysia – Day 2 of the 2022 Asian Championships

Day 2 of the Asian Championships featured the Men 55kg, Men 61kg and Women 55kg categories. The day started with the Men 61kg Group B, where we could witness the first record of the competition. Mohamad Aniq Kasdan from Malaysia lifted a 160kg C&J and with that broke the Junior Asian Record of the category. Mohamad Aniq Kasdan (MAS) @ Bahrain Weightlifting Federation Men 55kg Category The competition was on between 2021 World Champion, Arli Chontey (KAZ), this years SEA Games Champion, Lai Gia Thanh (VIE) and Mansour Al Saleem (KSA), 2019 IWF World Championships Bronze medalist. In Snatch, Chontey placed 3rd with 116kg. Second place went to Al Saleem with 119kg, and Gia Thanh became Snatch Asian Champion with 120kg. In C&J, the same athletes made the podium but in different order: Al Saleem won Bronze medal with 140kg, second place this time went to Gia Thanh with 142kg and Chontey won Gold with 144kg. Total medalists of the category: Lai Gia Thanh (VIE) - 262kg Arli Chontey (KAZ) - 260kg Mansour Al Saleem (KSA) - 259kg Lai Gia Thanh (VIE) @Bahrain Weightlifting Federation Women 55kg Category In Snatch, Linglong Yu (CHN) at her first international event since 2016 finished at 1st place. Even though Zulfiya Chinshanlo (KAZ) lifted the same weight (95kg), as Yu did it first, Chinshanlo could only get Silver. The Snatch podium was completed with Nigora Abdullaeva (UZB) with her third lift of 87kg. In C&J, Tokyo 2020 Bronze medalist, Windy Cantika Aisah placed third with her last attempt of 106kg. Linglong Yu after her Gold medal in Snatch collected a Silver medal in C&J with her first lift of 115kg. Chinshanlo was the absolute winner of the category as with her second lift of 125kg she won by 10kgs. She also tried to beat the Senior World and Asian Record with 130kg but at the end it was a no lift. The Total podium was as follows: Zulfiya Chinshanlo (KAZ) - 220kg Linglong Yu (CHN) - 210kg Nigora Abdullaeva (UZB) - 193kg Zulfiya Chinshanlo (KAZ) @IWF Men 61kg Category The last category of the day was the Men 61kg.  In the Snatch portion of the category, Bronze medal went to Ricko Saputra from Indonesia with 133kg and Silver to Nguyen Tran Ahn Tuan from Vietnam with 134kg. The strongest of the category was Xionghui Jia from People's Republic of China who took Gold medal with 140kg. He tried to break Fabin Li's record of 145kg but unfortunately he didn't manage his last attempt of 146kg. In Clean & Jerk, Saputra collected his second Bronze of the night with 158kg. As the suprise of the day, Mohamad Aniq Kasdan not only broke the Junior Asian Record with 160kg, he also became Silver medalist from Group B. Finally Tran Anh Tuan placed first with his second lift of 161kg. Vietnam and China shine on the first day of the 2022 Asian Championships

The 2022 Asian Championships started today in Manama, Bahrain at 4PM local time. The first day featured the Women 45kg and Women 49kg categories. Women 45kg Category In Snatch the 2019 IWF Junior World Champion, Khong My Phuong (VIE) took Gold with 78kg, SEA Games Bronze medalist, Siti Nafisatul Hariroh (INA) won Silver with her second lift of 71kg and Harshada Sharad Garud (IND) finished at third place with 68kg. In C&J, as Phuong couldn't make a successful lift on her third try, she won Silver with 88kg, while Nafisatul lifted 91kg on her third attempt and therefore took the Gold. The C&J podium was completed by Rose Jean Ramos (PHI) with 85kg, the same weight she lifted at this years IWF Youth World Championships in León, Mexico. The Total podium was as follows:  Khong My Phuong (VIE) - 166kg Siti Nafisatul Hariroh (INA) - 162kg Harshada Sharad Garud (IND) - 152kg Khong My Phuong (VIE) @Bahrain Weightlifting Federation Women 49kg category In the Snatch portion of the category, the Chinese and Vietnamese athletes, Jiali Wang and Tran Thi My Dung were both going for Gold based on their starting weights. At the end they both only had one good attempts and as Wang lifted 1 kg more (81kg) she placed first, and Dung the second (80kg). Bronze went to Asian Junior Silver medalist, Jamila Panfilova (UZB) with 79kg. The biggest suprise of the C&J portion of the program was Snatch Silver medalist, Dung bombing out. With her not being a medal contender the field became open for others. In case of the Gold medal, there was no question, Wang with 3 good lifts won the category (105kg). Silver was won by Jing Lin Cheng (TPE) with also 3 good lifts, the best being 102kg and the last medal of the C&J went to 2018 World Champion in the W45kg category, Yulduz Jumabayeva (TKM) with 97kg.   The last Total podium of the day was as follows: Jiali Wang (CHN) - 186kg Jing Lin Cheng (TPE) - 181kg Yulduz Jumabayeva (TKM) - 172kg  Jiali Wang (CHN) @Bahrain Weightlifting Federation Tomorrow the competition continues with the Men 55kg, Men 61kg and Women 55kg categories at 11AM local
