Greek weightlifting is investing in the future

According to reports quoting Federation President Pyrros Dimas, the Greek Weightlifting Federation carried out more than 120 doping tests in 2010 including in and out of competition testing. Voting for Best Lifters of 2010 ends tonight!

Today, 21st January 2011, is the last day open for the voting of World Weightlifting's Best Lifters of 2010. Before 24:00h CET tonight you may still cast your vote on this website for the top 3 female and top 3 male weightlifters of the year 2010 who should receive, in your opinion, the "Jeno Boskovics Best Lifter Trophy". Weightlifting in Turkey: The Most Successful Federation in 2010!

The Turkish Weightlifting Federation, under the leadership of President Dr. Hasan Akkus, was officially proclaimed by the Turkish government and Sports Authority as the most successful in the year 2010. The THF activities included the successful organization of the Olympic Qualification World Championships in Antalya and the gold medals the country's weightlifters achieved therein. The important recognition was confirmed by increased state support to the Federation's activities. Furthermore, Dr. Akkus has just reported that at the financial congress of the Turkish Weightlifting Federation, the 146 delegates, including Minister of Sport, etc. accepted and highly acknowledged his Federation's financial and sports activities report. New LOCOG Members on stage!

LOCOG welcomes Keith Morgan (Technical Operations Manager) and Margaret Lynes (Services Manager) as new members who joined respectively the Weightlifting & IPC Powerlifting team. Keith is considered to be one of Great Britain's most experienced coaches having represented GB at numerous international events including the World and European Championships. More recently, he was a team coach for England at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and has served as the Head Coach of the Crystal Palace Weightlifting club for over twenty years. Prior to this, Keith served his full term at the Metropolitan Police Force, retiring in 1996. Margaret joins LOCOG having worked for the office of Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills (Ofsted) for a number of years as an Inspector responsible for children's homes, boarding schools, residential family centers and adoption services. Administratively, Margaret served as England's Weightlifting Section Manager at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and is also an Executive Board Member of British Weightlifting. 2011 advanced coach training course in Thailand

Thai Amateur Weightlifting Association (TAWA) held an advanced training for coaches in year of 2011 during January 13-14, 2011 at Ratanagosin Hotel, Chiang Mai, Thailand.  The main objective is to leverage efficiency of Thai Coaches' technical knowhow in addition to innovate knowhow such an international standard coaching course.  TAWA was also honoured to have Mr. Yeom Dongchul - Korean Coach - come to give us knowledge in order to improve many techniques of weightlifting
