EWF Technical Officials’ Seminar in Kosice
The EWF held a Seminar for Technical Officials in Kosice on 6th and 7th November 2015. The Seminar was fully covered by funds coming from the IWF Development Program. It was a very interesting and interactive seminar with the participation of 19 National Federations. The speakers were Mr. Benny Johansson (SWE), Mr. Steve Cannon (GBR), EWF Vice Presidents and Ms. Denise Offermann (CYP), General Secretary of the National Federation of Cyprus. Among other topics, the psychological aspects of being a TO, the main changes of the technical rules since the Congress of Baku and the duties of the TOs were also discussed. Before the Seminar there was an official reception hosted by the Mayor of Kosice, Mr. Richard Rasi at the historical Town Hall. The IWF was represented by Mr. Attila Adamfi, Director General and Ms. Eva Moska, Development and Education Director. Ms Reiko Chinen, IWF Technical Committee Member and Chair of the Technical Committee of the Asian Weightlifting Federation was also present. Final Entries for Houston are up
5 London Olympic Champions and 10 Almaty World Champions announced to compete The Final Entry List for the 2015 IWF World Championships Houston, USA has been published on our website. As Qualification Event for the 2016 Olympic Games, this competition is the most important milestone on the road leading to Rio. The George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston will stage from 20-28 November the 82nd Men’s and 25th Women’s World Championships. The Verification of the Final Entries will set the final numbers on 18 November at 18:00, but according to the Final Entries, we have now 745 athletes from 105 countries who will compete in Houston. Paris 2011 topped the number of participating countries with 87, and Athens 1999 topped the participating athletes with 626 lifters. Considering the impressive figures, the Record participation is still expected. IWF visit in Rome
Upon the invitation of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) President, Giovanni Malago and Italian Weightlifting Federation (FIPE) President, Dr. Antonio Urso, IWF President Dr. Tamas Ajan accompanied by Attila Adamfi, Director General and Eva Moska, Development and Education Director paid a visit to Rome. Discussions were held on candidature of Rome for the 2024 Olympic Games, especially about the concept of the weightlifting competitions at the Games. After discussions at CONI the headquarter of the Italian team, the weightlifting facility at the Olympic Training Center was also visited. Successful IWF Anti-Doping Seminar in Pyongyang
Dr. Patrick Schamasch, Anti-Doping Commission Chairman paid a visit to Pyongyang, capital city of North Korea to hold an IWF Education Seminar. In presence of 40 attendees, coaches, doctors and officials, the Anti-Doping seminar took place on 22nd of September at the Sport Village. The comprehensive presentation covered all areas of the IWF’s robust anti-doping fight with special attention to nutritional supplements and the specificities of the new Anti-Doping Policy. Due to the entourage registration and complex result management procedures, the IWF’s Anti-Doping fight is stronger than ever. A question and answer session concluded the two hours lecture, and Dr. Schamasch was happy to give broader views about questions of common interest like roles and responsibilities as well as rights. This was the second Seminar held in North Korea in the past period, and prevention a main point of focus while the ADC gives special attention to the education of the
