Olympic Solidarity Rio scholarship programme

The International Olympic Committee through Olympic Solidarity, constantly seeks to encourage the practice of sport and athletes throughout the world by offering the National Olympic Committee a large number of programmes that cover the different development stages in an athlete’s career, from its beginning in the junior ranks up to the highest sphere of elite sport. This programme supported 1547 athletes from 185 NOCs in 22 sports. From weightlifting 14 women and 18 men athletes were awarded with the scholarship from all 5 continents. From the total 32 allocated scholarships 39,5% participated in the Games in Rio. The Mauritius Amateur Weightlifters' & Powerlifters' Association Elections were held on Friday 13th January 2016 for the period of 2017 - 2020. Weightlifting Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Elections were held on 30th December 2016. The Congress made one significant change in their Constitution highlighting gender equality. PUBLIC DISCLOSURE

The IWF reports that as a consequence of the IOC’s reanalyses of samples from the London 2012 Olympic Games, the sample of the following Athlete has returned an Adverse Analytical Finding: AKKAEV, Khadzimzrat (RUS) – Dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (S1.1 Anabolic agents) In line with the relevant rules and regulations, the IWF imposed mandatory provisional suspension upon the Athlete, who remains provisionally suspended in view of a potential anti-doping rule violation until the case is closed. Following the issuance of the IOC’s respective decision, the IWF will be in a position to take over the results management of the case.
