THE ITA ASSERTS APPARENT ANTI-DOPING RULE VIOLATION AGAINST BRAZILIAN WEIGHTLIFTER THE INTERNATIONAL TESTING AGENCY (ITA), ON BEHALF OF THE INTERNATIONAL WEIGHTLIFTING FEDERATION (IWF), ASSERTS AN APPARENT ANTI-DOPING RULE VIOLATION AGAINST BRAZILIAN WIEGHTLIFTER NATHASHA ROSA FIGUEIREDO. The ITA reports that a sample collected during an out-of-competition doping control  on 31 March 2021 from Nathasha Rosa Figueiredo, weightlifter from Brazil, has returned an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) for prohibited substances under the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Prohibited List. The substance found in the athlete’s sample was hydrochlorothiazide and the metabolite chloraminophenamide and falls in the category of diuretics and masking agents (S5.). The athlete has been informed of the case and has been provisionally suspended until the resolution of the matter. She has the right to request the analysis of the B-sample. Pursuant to the IWF’s delegation of its anti-doping program to the ITA, the prosecution of the case is being handled entirely by the ITA. The IWF reports that the ITA has asserted an anti-doping rule violation against Mr. Rinat KIREEV (RUS) under Article 2.2 of the IWF Anti-Doping Rules. The asserted ADRV is based on investigations conducted by the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Intelligence and Investigations Department (WADA I&I) and by Professor Richard McLaren into allegations of systemic doping practices in Russian sport as well as Moscow Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) data retrieved by WADA I&I over time. The prosecution of the cases is being handled entirely by the ITA on behalf of the IWF. Given that the case is underway, there will be no further comments during the ongoing

The IWF reports that the ITA has asserted an anti-doping rule violation against Ms. Ekaterina KATINA (RUS) under Article 2.2 of the IWF Anti-Doping Rules. The athlete is  provisionally suspended with immediate effect until the resolution of the proceedings. The asserted ADRV is based on investigations conducted by the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Intelligence and Investigations Department (WADA I&I) and by Professor Richard McLaren into allegations of systemic doping practices in Russian sport as well as Moscow Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) data retrieved by WADA I&I over time. IWF reports that Mr. Jorge Faustino Perez Castillo (MEX) as an Athlete Support Personnel has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations under Article 2.8 of the IWF Anti-Doping Policy. Provisional suspension has already been imposed on Mr. Castillo on 19 March 2018 by the IWF. The provisional suspension imposed remains in effect in view of the potential anti-doping rule violation. In any case where it is determined that the Athlete Support Personnel did not commit an anti-doping rule violation, the relevant decision will also be published. IWF reports that Mr. Liu Ning as an Athlete Support Personnel has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations under Article 2.8 and/or 2.9 of the IWF Anti-Doping Policy. As a consequence, Mr.Ning is provisionally suspended in view of a potential anti-doping rule violation. The IWF reports that, based on the Moscow Laboratory Information Management System (“LIMS”)  information and analytical data provided by WADA I & I and the International Testing Agency (“ITA”)’s own investigation, the IWF has asserted Anti-Doping Rule Violations against Ms. Oksana SLIVENKO (RUS) under Article 2.2 of the IWF Anti-Doping Policy. The case is being handled by the ITA. Ms. Oksana SLIVENKO (RUS) is provisionally suspended as of 1 March 2021.
