THE ITA ASSERTS ADRVs AGAINST WEIGHTLIFTER DMYTRO CHUMAK AND COACH MATSOKHA MYKHAILO The International Testing Agency (ITA), leading an independent anti-doping program for the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), asserts anti-doping rule violations against Ukrainian weightlifter Dmytro Chumak and his coach Matsokha Mykhailo. The ITA reports that based on an incident that occurred during an Out-Of-Competition testing mission conducted by the ITA on 6 May 2021, the ITA has charged Mr. Chumak and Mr. Mykhailo with committing Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs). The ITA alleges that, during the abovementioned doping control, Mr. Chumak refused to provide a sample, attempted to evade and bribe the Doping Control Officers that were conducting the testing mission. The ITA also alleges that Mr. Mykhailo assisted the athlete in the wrongdoings. Mr. Chumak has thus been charged with committing violations of Article 2.2 (Use or Attempted Use of a Prohibited Substance), Article 2.3 (Evading and Refusing Sample Collection) and Article 2.5 (Tampering or Attempted Tampering with any part of Doping Control) of the IWF Anti-Doping Rules (IWF ADR). Mr. Mykhailo has been charged with committing violations of Article 2.5 (Tampering or Attempted Tampering with any part of Doping Control) and Article 2.9 (Complicity or Attempted complicity involving an ADRV) of the IWF ADR. Dmytro Chumak and Matsokha Mykhailo have been informed of their respective cases and have been provisionally suspended until the resolution of the matter. Should they not accept the consequences provided for under the IWF ADR, they will have the right to ask for a hearing. Pursuant to the IWF’s delegation of its anti-doping program to the ITA, the prosecution of the cases is being handled entirely by the ITA. THE ITA ASSERTS APPARENT ANTI-DOPING RULE VIOLATION AGAINST AZERBAIJANI WEIGHTLIFTER THE INTERNATIONAL TESTING AGENCY (ITA), ON BEHALF OF THE INTERNATIONAL WEIGHTLIFTING FEDERATION (IWF), ASSERTS AN APPARENT ANTI-DOPING RULE VIOLATION AGAINST AZERBAIJANI WEIGHTLIFTER BOYANKA MINKOVA KOSTOVA. Acting independently on behalf of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), the ITA reports that a sample collected by the ITA during an In-Competition testing mission on 5 April 2021 during the 2021 European Championships in Moscow, Russia from gold medal winner (59 kgs) Ms Boyanka Minkova Kostova, weightlifter from Azerbaijan, has returned an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) for the prohibited steroid stanozolol metabolite. The athlete has been notified of the case and has been provisionally suspended until the resolution of the matter. She has the right to request the analysis of the B-sample. If confirmed, this will potentially be the athlete’s second Anti-Doping Rule Violation (the athlete was previously sanctioned with a period of ineligibility from 10 June 2016 until 10 June 2018 for the presence of the prohibited steroid Dehydrochloromethyl- testosterone). THE ITA ASSERTS APPARENT ANTI-DOPING RULE VIOLATION AGAINST BRAZILIAN WEIGHTLIFTER THE INTERNATIONAL TESTING AGENCY (ITA), ON BEHALF OF THE INTERNATIONAL WEIGHTLIFTING FEDERATION (IWF), ASSERTS AN APPARENT ANTI-DOPING RULE VIOLATION AGAINST BRAZILIAN WIEGHTLIFTER NATHASHA ROSA FIGUEIREDO. The ITA reports that a sample collected during an out-of-competition doping control  on 31 March 2021 from Nathasha Rosa Figueiredo, weightlifter from Brazil, has returned an Adverse Analytical Finding (AAF) for prohibited substances under the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Prohibited List. The substance found in the athlete’s sample was hydrochlorothiazide and the metabolite chloraminophenamide and falls in the category of diuretics and masking agents (S5.). The athlete has been informed of the case and has been provisionally suspended until the resolution of the matter. She has the right to request the analysis of the B-sample. The IWF reports that the ITA has asserted an anti-doping rule violation against Mr. Rinat KIREEV (RUS) under Article 2.2 of the IWF Anti-Doping Rules. The asserted ADRV is based on investigations conducted by the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Intelligence and Investigations Department (WADA I&I) and by Professor Richard McLaren into allegations of systemic doping practices in Russian sport as well as Moscow Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) data retrieved by WADA I&I over time. The IWF reports that the ITA has asserted an anti-doping rule violation against Ms. Ekaterina KATINA (RUS) under Article 2.2 of the IWF Anti-Doping Rules. The athlete is  provisionally suspended with immediate effect until the resolution of the proceedings. The asserted ADRV is based on investigations conducted by the World Anti-Doping Agency’s Intelligence and Investigations Department (WADA I&I) and by Professor Richard McLaren into allegations of systemic doping practices in Russian sport as well as Moscow Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) data retrieved by WADA I&I over time. IWF reports that Mr. Jorge Faustino Perez Castillo (MEX) as an Athlete Support Personnel has been charged with Anti-Doping Rule Violations under Article 2.8 of the IWF Anti-Doping Policy. Provisional suspension has already been imposed on Mr. Castillo on 19 March 2018 by the IWF. The provisional suspension imposed remains in effect in view of the potential anti-doping rule violation. In any case where it is determined that the Athlete Support Personnel did not commit an anti-doping rule violation, the relevant decision will also be published.
