A new set of Officers took the Oath in Moscow

Delegates from 138 countries completed the election of the Federation’s Officers for 2013-2016 at the IWF Electoral Congress in Moscow today. The Congress Elected the Executives and the Committees. The delegates voted confidence for another term to Dr. Tamas Ajan (HUN) as President and Ma Wenguang (CHN) as General Secretary. The fruitful work accomplished in the past 4 years by the leading duo will remain until the next electoral period. Nicu Vlad (ROU) became the First Vice President, while the five Vice Presidents elected are: Intarat Yodbangtoey (THA), Sam Coffa (AUS), Alexander Gerasimenko (RUS), Jose Quinones (PER) and Dato Ong Poh Eng (MAS). As a historical move for the sport, the first Women Executive Member elected is Moira Lassen (CAN). The IWF Executive Board serving from today is as follows: Pyrros Dimas (GRE), Birendra Prasad Baishya (IND), Mohammed Jalood (IRQ), Michael Irani (GBR), David Montero (BRA), Christian Baumgartner (GER), Masmoudi Fathi (TUN). The elected Members of the Technical Committee are: Reiko Kato Chinen (JPN), Alexander Kurlovich (BLR), Abdullah Al Jarmal (YEM), Shakhrillo Makhmudov (UZB), Steve Cannon (GBR), Diego German Martinez (COL), Aldo Radicello (ITA), Hussein M. Mahmoud Shoukry (EGY), Mohyuddin Ahmad (BAN), Sonny Kasiran (INA). The elected Members of the Coaching and Research Committee are: Kyle Pierce (USA), David Rigert (RUS), Lyn Jones (AUS), Nippon Limboonsuebsay (THA), Mohamed Ben Amor (TUN), Salih Al-Khalidi (IRQ), Milan Mihajlovic (SRB), Byung-Kwan Chun (KOR), Kamal Mahmoud Mahgoub (EGY), Stefan Korpa (SVK). The elected Members of the Medical Committee are: Dominik Dörr (GER), Herrick Richard (USA), Dogan Atlihan (TUR), Parameth Ladpli (THA), Wing Yuk Ip (HKG), Lisimoni Kami (TGA), Robert Smigielski (POL), Maria Dolores Rubio (ESP), Carmelo Ciotta (ITA), Alexander Petrov (RUS). Dr. Tamas Ajan re-elected as IWF President

Dr. Tamas Ajan (HUN) has been re-elected as President of the International Weightlifting Federation today at the 2013 IWF Electoral Congress held in Moscow, Russia. He withstood the challenge from European President Mr. Antonio Urso (ITA). Last competitions and closing in Lima

Men’s 105kg 3 Gold Medals were awarded to the Russian lifter BOCHKOV Rodion ending the competition with a Total of 374kg. His compatriot, DZAGOEV Soslan (RUS) ended up second with a difference of 3kg between the two lifters (371kg). 5th place after the Snatch with only 1 good attempt, SAMORAJ Jaroslaw (POL) came up to the Third place of the Podium with an impressive 201kg in the Clean and Jerk, his Total was 363kg. Men’s +105kg 3 Gold Medals were awarded to TALAKHADZE Lasha (GEO) (190kg, 221kg, 411kg) and 3 Silver Medals to MINASYAN Gor (ARM) (183kg, 220kg, 403kg) in the Men’s +105kg Bodyweight category. Third place went to the Russian MARTIROSIAN Karen who lifted 385kg in the Total which is 18kg less than the Silver Medallist. At the Closing Ceremony of the Championships Mr. Jose Quinones, President of the Peruvian Weightlifting Federation, President of the Peruvian Olympic Committee and also President of the Organizing Committee thanked all participants for having contributed in the success of these IWF 2013 Junior World Championships Lima, Peru. Mr. Ismael Manuico, Manager of the Lima City Governor and Mr. Akio Tamachiro, National Sport Director of Peru also participated in the event. On behalf of the IWF and its President Dr. Tamas Ajan, Mr. Sam Coffa, IWF Vice President gave a closing speech giving high appreciation to the Organizing Committee and especially to the President Mr. Quinones for the wonderful job accomplished. The Best Female and Best Male athlete of the competition received the IWF/Eleiko Press Commission Trophy. The Trophy of Best Female athlete of the competition went to WANG Xinyue (CHN) while the Best Male athlete of the competition was HRISTOV Valentin Snezhev (AZE). Trophies were awarded to the best Male and Female athletes of the competition according to Athlete’s Choice. A Poll was conducted during the Closing Ceremony, and all delegates and athletes present had the opportunity to vote for their favorites. According to Athlete’s Choice, the Trophy of Best Female athlete of the competition is awarded to MAXIMOVA Ksenia (RUS), and the Best Male athlete was HRISTOV Valentin Snezhev (AZE).
