Sochi 2014 Torch Relay

On Monday, Olympic weightlifter Alla Vazhenina was one of 22 torchbearers who carried the flame through Shadrinsk. Monday marked day 71 of the Sochi Olympic torch relay. The flame arrived in Shadrinsk on Monday. Sochi 2014 said 22 torchbearers will run with the flame on the relay route through Shadrinsk, including Olympic weightlifter Alla Vazhenina. Russian weightlifting stars Svetlana Cheremshanova and Alla Vazhenina both hailed from Shadrinsk. Source

IWF satisfied with Glasgow2014 prospects

An IWF Technical visit was made in Glasgow, Scotland where the XX Commonwealth Games will be organized in 2014. Weightlifting, as a core sport on the program, will be held in the centre of the Games, in the iconic building of Glasgow, the Armadillo. During the busy two days of meeting Attila Adamfi, IWF Competition Director met David Grevemberg, CEO, Greg Warnecke, Head of Sport and Vicky Strange, General Manager, Sport Competition. Detailed discussions with Matthew Curtain, Weightlifting Competition Manager (recently appointed to Director of Sport of the CGF) and Moira Lassen, Weightlifting Competition Manager as of January 2014 (and IWF Executive Board member) included the competition and training venue, Sport Equipment, Results & Timing and Scoring, Transport, Press operations and TV broadcast, Technical Officials, volunteers and other funtional areas. Weightlifting ready to go at SEA Games

Everything has been put in place and weightlifting in the 27th SEA Games, Myanmar is now ready to go.
