IWF Marketing Commission meeting in Beijing

The IWF Marketing Commission held its two days meeting in Beijing, China on 17-18 May 2014. Prior to the Meeting, the Members had the opportunity to meet Mr. Yang Shuan, Vice-President of the Chinese Olympic Committee. During the two days meeting, Members went through a crowded agenda including new Marketing Strategy. Iranian NOC delegation at the IWF

On their first official visit abroad since their election, the Iranian Olympic Committee President Mr. Kiomars Hashemi and Secretary General Mr. Shahrokh Shahnazi visited the IWF where they were received by IWF President Dr. Tamás Aján. The delegation included Mr. Mohammed Reza Akhoundi, Presidential Advisor. Topics of co-operation, Iran's weightlifting, the anti-doping fight, events and Iran's international presence were on the agenda of the discussions also involving the IWF staff members. 100 days to go to Nanjing 2014

On May 8th, young people across China celebrated the start of the 100-day countdown for the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in active and creative ways. To mark the special day and encourage interest from young people, several celebrations were held in China. In Nanjing, top fencing athlete, Lei Sheng, a champion in the London 2012 Olympic Games, was invited to promote this traditional sport and encourage everyone to get involved. In Beijing, the YOG-themed poster design exhibition was held in the Palace Museum and a giant statue of the mascot was exhibited in the city center. In Hong Kong, a street dance event was held to celebrate the 100-day countdown. First European medal in weightlifting for Serbia

KAJDOCSI Tamas, recorder, champion and national team member of Serbia, led by national coach VERT Stipan, won three medals for Serbia at the European Youth Championships in Ciechanow (POL), held from 27 April to 3 May in 2014. In the +94kg category, he won silver medal with 155kg in Snatch, and bronze medal in the Clean and Jerk with 185kg. With a Total of 340kg, he was awarded the bronze.
