Iranian NOC delegation at the IWF

On their first official visit abroad since their election, the Iranian Olympic Committee President Mr. Kiomars Hashemi and Secretary General Mr. Shahrokh Shahnazi visited the IWF where they were received by IWF President Dr. Tamás Aján. The delegation included Mr. Mohammed Reza Akhoundi, Presidential Advisor. 100 days to go to Nanjing 2014

On May 8th, young people across China celebrated the start of the 100-day countdown for the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in active and creative ways. To mark the special day and encourage interest from young people, several celebrations were held in China. In Nanjing, top fencing athlete, Lei Sheng, a champion in the London 2012 Olympic Games, was invited to promote this traditional sport and encourage everyone to get involved. In Beijing, the YOG-themed poster design exhibition was held in the Palace Museum and a giant statue of the mascot was exhibited in the city center. In Hong Kong, a street dance event was held to celebrate the 100-day countdown. Participants were also encouraged to download the Virtual Torch Relay application to allow them to be ‘digital’ torchbearers for Nanjing 2014 and learn more about the Games and the Olympic values, excellence, friendship and

First European medal in weightlifting for Serbia

KAJDOCSI Tamas, recorder, champion and national team member of Serbia, led by national coach VERT Stipan, won three medals for Serbia at the European Youth Championships in Ciechanow (POL), held from 27 April to 3 May in 2014. In the +94kg category, he won silver medal with 155kg in Snatch, and bronze medal in the Clean and Jerk with 185kg. With a Total of 340kg, he was awarded the bronze. First Technical Delegate visit to Taipei 2017

The FISU Technical Delegates have completed their first round of technical inspection visits in Taipei, host of the 2017 Summer Universiade. Weightlifting Technical Delegate Anikó Németh-Móra inspected and approved the site of weightlifting, which is part of the Taipei2017 Universiade program. In 3 years' time the National Chengchi University Gymnasium will serve as a true center for the weightlifting sport accommodating both the competition venue and in two large halls the training venue. After Shenzen 2011 and Kazan 2013, weightlifting will once again be an integral part with 18 other sports of the university games' program. The TD sees good guarantees for a successful Universiade not only due to the quality of the planned venues and infrastructure but also due to the excellent cooperation between Taipei City Government, Organising Committee, the Universities concerned, the governing body FISU, the IWF and, last but not least, the Chinese Taipei National Sports Associations. IWF Technical visit in Kazan

Mr. Attila Adamfi, IWF Director General and Ms. Eva Moska, IWF Development and Education Director paid a visit to Kazan, Russia in order to follow up the preparation process regarding the Junior World Championships to be held in June 2014.
