Elections of the Weightlifting Federation of Madagascar

The Weightlifting Federation of Madagascar held its Elective General Assembly on 15 November 2012. The Elections were held in presence of representatives from the Madagascar NOC and the Sports Ministry. Albanian Weightlifting Federation Elections

On 16 November 2012, the Albanian Weightlifting Federation elected its new President and Executive Board Members. Elez Gjoza and Theodhori Masllavica were candidates for the position of President. Both presented their ideas for the future of weightlifting sport in Albania. The Elections were held at the Tirana International Hotel where several media representatives were present. 16 sports clubs representatives proceeded to a secret scrutiny. After the cameras counting of votes for president and members of the EB, the Commission declared the vote: Elez Gjoza was elected President of the Albanian Weightlifting Federation with 11 votes against Theodhori Masllavica 5 votes. The President will start his 4 years term in 2013. Executive Board Members are: Asim Belinovi; Bashkim Nikolli; Besnik Psatha; Ilir Topuzi; Kastriot Rukaj; Haki Agalliu. Impressive organization of the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships

The Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships were held from 5-12 November in Yangon, Myanmar at the Thein Phyu sport stadium. The outstanding and successful competition organized on high level was the first international event organized in Myanmar since 1969. The Annual Congress of the Asian Weightlifting Federation was held in conjunction with the event with the attendance of the IWF President Dr.Tamas Ajan. The Acting President of the AWF Major General Intarat Yodbangtoey and the General Secretary Ali Moradi talked about the great achievements of the Asian lifters at the London 2012 Olympic Games who won 13 Gold Medals out of the available 15 (CHN:5, KAZ:4, PRK:3, IRI:1). In his comments, the IWF President attributed the success to the unity and friendly collaboration of all nations within the Asian Weightlifting Federation. Dr. Ajan was satisfied to see that the AWF was on the right track since its reorganization in 2003 and is devoted to the development of the sport. Great conditions were provided by the Myanmar Weightlifting Federation in terms of accommodation, venue, technology, volunteers and all aspects related to host a top level weightlifting event. Minister of Sports and President of the Myanmar Olympic Committee H.E. U Tint Hsan underlined the importance of witnessing and hosting such international events and support the development of weightlifting in the country. The President of the Myanmar Weightlifting Federation Thet Linn and the General Secretary Myint Swe showed impressive organizational skills in the delivery of the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships. Thanks to the strong line up of Asian lifters and the presence of previous Youth and Junior World Champions, the high level competitions were full of excitement. 2012 IF Forum on sustainability in sport

The last edition of the IF Forum took place from 12-14 November 2012 in Lausanne, Switzerland. The theme of this year's event was "Increasing the positive impact of your event: Sustainable Event Management". Presentation sessions and workshops engaged in the wide spectrum of event sustainability and include speakers strongly experienced in this area. The keynote addresses, breakout sessions and workshops engaged topics such as: London 2012: A sustainable investment for the environment and the community; Why it is crucial to integrate sustainability into the bid process and how to do it; Sustainability online education platform; Sustainability as part of the bidding process (makind sustainability a core element of the bid). In addition, the final day of the Forum will focus on event reporting tools and sustainability measures. Janusz Przedpelski Memorial Tournament

The 4th Janusz Przedpelski (1926 -2008) Memorial Tournament - the legendary President of the Polish Weightlifting Federation in 1959-2006; co-founder and long-term President of the EWF; IWF Vice-President; coach and international referee - was held in Opole, Poland on 10 November 2012. The organizers of the event were the Polish Weightlifting Federation (President of the PWF and IWF Vice-President Zygmunt Wasiela) and the club “Budowlani” Opole - Polish Team Champion in 2012, and its coach, former Head of the Polish National Team - Ryszard Szewczyk. In a tightly packed audience, Janusz Przedpełski’s widow Mrs. Maria and daughter Aleksandra, the London 2012 Olympic Champion in the 85kg bodyweight category Adrian Zielinski and many former Polish best lifters were present. Kornel Czekiel (bodyweight 106.5kg) won the 4th Memorial Tournament with a result of 390kg in the Total (Snatch: 170kg, Clean & Jerk 220kg). He obtained 423.35 Sinclair points. The second was Arkadiusz Michalski (bodyweight 102.1kg) with 403.19 Sinclair points and a Total result of 366kg (Snatch: 160kg, Clean & Jerk: 206kg). The Bronze Medallist of the London 2012 Olympic Games in the 105kg bodyweight category Bartlomiej Bonk was awarded the Bronze Medal in the Tournament. Universality Places allocation procedure

Based on the Qualification Regulation for the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games, the IOC contacted the eligible NOCs with regard to the Universality Places allocation procedure.
