WADA 2017 Prohibited List published

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) published the 2017 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods; along with, the 2017 Summary of Major Modifications and Explanatory Notes. The List - which designates what substances and methods are prohibited both in- and out-of-competition, and which substances are banned in particular sports - was approved by the Executive Committee on 21 September and comes into force on 1 January 2017. It should be noted that, for athletes who have a legitimate medical reason for using a prohibited substance or method that is on the List, they can be accommodated via the International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions (ISTUE), which has overwhelming acceptance from athletes, physicians and anti-doping stakeholders worldwide. As has been the case in past years, the List will be made available as an iPhone app and on other mobile devices effective 1 January

Kosovo Weightlifting Federation Electoral Congress

On October 1st 2016 Kosova Weightlifting Federation held its Electoral Congress. The Elections were held at the House of Sport in Prishtina under the supervision of Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports where 18 delegates from the four regions of Kosovo where present. The newly Executive Board consists of: Mr. Ali Sekiraça, President Mr. Astrit Hasani, General Secretary-treasurer Mr. Arian Zogu, member Mr. Yll Boshnjaku, member Mr. Fazli Obrazhda, member According to the KWF constitution the President with the approval of the Executive Board in the next meeting will appoint two (2) Board Members. The electoral congress also elected Mr. Pashk Paluca as Chairman of Technical Committee and Ms. Diana Haxhiu Budima as Chairman of Medical Committee. In addition, Ms. Agnesa Maxharri, Ms. Blerta Sopa and Ms. Samire Sadiku where elected as members of Supervisory Council. Congratulations to all elected

IWF Vice President attended the Commonwealth Sport Summit and CGF General Assembly

IWF Vice President Sam Coffa dines with Commonwealth Games Vice Patron HRH Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex (middle) and other delegates at the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) Regional Vice Presidents and Guests dinner during the first inaugural Commonwealth Sport Summit and CGF General Assembly hosted in Edmonton, Canada. The IWF reports that as a consequence of the IOC’s reanalyses of samples from the 2012 London Olympic Games, the sample of the following Athlete has returned with an Adverse Analytical Finding: VARDANYAN Norik (ARM) – Dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (S1.1 Anabolic Agents) In line with the relevant rules and regulations, the IWF imposed mandatory provisional suspensions upon the Athlete, who remain provisionally suspended in view of potential anti-doping rule violations until his case is closed. Following the IOC’s decision, the IWF will be in a position to take over the results management of the case. Should it be determined that no anti-doping violation was committed, the relevant decision shall also be published. The IWF will not make any further comments on the case until it is closed. Croatian Weightlifting Federation Elections

The Croatian Weightlifting Federation held its Elections on 30 September 2016 in the city of Osijek. Delegates unanimously reelected Damijan Krklec as President and also elected the Executive Board and Committee members. The newly elected Executive Board unanimously reappointed Jaksa Ivanisevic as General Secretary. Amar Music, 85kg lifter as well as his coach representing Croatia at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games also received appreciation.
