Coaching Seminar held in Bratislava, Slovak Republic

'Olympic Weightlifting in strength and conditioning' Seminar was successfully concluded, organised by the Slovak Weightlifting Federation in partnership with the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Comenius University Bratislava. The Seminar was officially opened by Tomas Chovanec, President of the Slovak Weightlifting Federation and Professor Marián Vanderka, dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport. Petr Krol and Attila Adamfi, Vice Presidents welcomed the audience on behalf of the IWF as the Seminar was supported by the IWF Development Program. Lecturers and about 200 participants attended from the Czech Republic and the host country, including many students from the Comenius University. The Seminar was attended by 3 former Presidents of the Slovak Weightlifting Federation as well, Jan Stefanik, Pavol Mutafov and Dusan

IWF delegation concludes planning visit to Paris 2024

A delegation from the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) compromising of General Secretary Antonio Urso and Executive Board Member and IF Delegate, Matthew Curtain have completed a two-day visit to Paris from 16 – 18 November 2022 as part of preparations for the Olympic Games in 2024. The IWF was hosted by members of the Paris 2024 Sport Department, led by Sport Competitions Director Aurélie Merle and Jacqueline White, the Weightlifting and Para Powerlifting Sport Manager for the 2024 Games. Senior representatives of the French Weightlifting Federation (FFHM), including President Michel Raynaud and first Vice-President Jean-Paul Bulgaridhes also attended a session with the IWF and Paris 2024 to discuss strategies aligned to further promoting the sport in France. The agenda for the visit included workshops on aspects including sports presentation, transport, venues and infrastructure, the Olympic Village and medical services. The group also had the opportunity to visit the South Paris 6 venue for Weightlifting, part of the Paris Expo complex, as well as the hotels proposed to accommodate IWF technical officials and the IWF Family in 2024. Speaking at the end of the visit, IF Delegate Matthew Curtain said: “This has been a very valuable and productive two days. We thank the Paris 2024 team for their hospitality and collaborative approach to working with the IWF to deliver a fantastic athlete experience as well as the best possible showcase for our sport in 2024. “The input and involvement of the FFHM is also, and will continue to be, crucial to maximizing the opportunity of these Games. SPORTFIVE becomes exclusive partner of the International Weightlifting Federation

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has assigned its international media rights for two upcoming World Championships to SPORTFIVE.    As IWF's exclusive partner, SPORTFIVE will distribute the media rights to the World Championships in 2022 and 2023, as well as to the Grand Prix in 2023 and the IWF World Cup in 2024. IWF WELCOMES NEW SPORT DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Evelin Gondos as its new Sport Development Manager. With an academic and professional background in Leadership, Management and International Relations, Evelin will work closely with the five Continental Federations, Member Federations, and external stakeholders to ensure the IWF’s operational activities align with objectives set out by the IWF Executive Board. A fluent English and Spanish speaker, Evelin brings experience from her previous role with FITEQ, where she served as continental development manager for the sport of Teqball in the Pan-American region.
