IWF Out of competition testing results

The IWF has carried out an extensive out of competition doping control testing in the past few month to try to ensure equal chances for all lifters at the 2007 World Weightlifting Championships (WWC) in Chiang Mai, Thailand.Based on the IWF Anti Doping rules all Adverse Analytical Findings (AAF) shall kept confidential until the cases are closed. However given the short timeline until the 2007 WWC the IWF given shorter deadlines for the countries and lifters involved to request the B sample analysis and/or the Hearing.For equality and fairness the IWF hereby lists only the name of the countries and the gender of the concerned athletes involved and facing sanctions for positive doping tests (results received until 31st September 2007).ALB - 3 male liftersBLR - 1 female lifterMEX - 1 female lifterBUL - 1 female lifterIND - 1 male

Coach suspended for LIFE

Former Weightlifter and Coach Mr. SEVDALIN MARINOV has received LIFE sanction following the second offence of the Australian Weightlifting Federation Anti Doping Policy.The IWF strongly encourages all National Federations to continue testing and investigations and do NOT tolerate any kind of doping

Olympic doping tests

Beijing 2008 4500 doping tests are foreseen for the XXIX Olympiad. London 2012 5000 doping tests are foreseen for the XXX Olympiad. Athletes need to be targeted out-of-competition even more effectively in the coming years to be able to send a strong message to all participating athletes, countries and to every other party involved in the

WADA’s Executive Committee future doping regulation plans

On the WADA Executive Committee meeting there were talks about: - Boosting the minimum doping bans from 2 years to maybe four and - Using only the A samples since the B samples seldom differ in results. A long discussion will follow and all related parties will be asked before the final decision

Asian Games Doping News

IWF - DAGOC doping controls covered almost 50% of the weightlifting athletes who participated in Doha, Asian Games. The contracted WADA Accredited Laboratory reported 4 adverse analytical findings (positive cases) and the Olympic Council of Asia carried out the result management accordingly. All 4 athletes accepted the result of the A sample analysis and waived their right for the analysis of the B sample. Therefore they received a 2 years suspension according to the IWF Anti Doping Code. The athletes sanctioned are as follows: Oo Mya Sanda, 75 kg (MYA) Kyi Kyi Than 48 kg (MYA) Elmira Ramieva 69 kg (UZB) Alexander Urinov 105 kg
