IOC Young Reporters Programme for Nanjing 2014 YOG

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is delighted to announce that the second cycle for the IOC Young Reporters Programme, a sports journalism training programme will be run during the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games. The Young Reporters’ initiative will bring 30 young reporters from the five continents to the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, which will be held from 16 to 28 August 2014, offering them homes in the Youth Olympic Village alongside the athletes, access to all the sports, and specialised media training from senior sports journalists. David Rigert Weightlifting Academy

Olympic Champion in 1976, six times World Champion David Rigert paid a visit to Hungary to attend the ceremony when the Weightlifting Academy and Sports School in Iregszemcse received his name. To commemorate this occasion, an international competition was held in Iregszemcse, Hungary specially organized to honor the iconic weightlifter. The “David Rigert Weightlifting Academy” was officially inaugurated in the presence of Hungarian Weightlifting President Imre Dobos and General Secretary Maria Takacs. Elected member of the International Weightlifting Federation Hall of Fame in 1999, David Rigert was elected Member of the IWF Coaching and Research Committee at the Electoral Congress in Moscow. Japan Weightlifting Federation Elections

The Japan Weightlifting Federation (JWA) elected Ms. Yuriko KOIKE, a Member of Parliament as new President of the JWA. Her presidency started on 15 June 2013. Ms. Tomoko KATO is newly elected as Executive Board Member. Now the JWA boasts of 3 female Executive Board Members among 23 (=13.0%): Ms Yuriko KOIKE, Ms Tomoko KATO and Ms Reiko Kato CHINEN.
