Two Silver worth Gold

Even though she was awarded two silver medals – in the Snatch and the Clean and Jerk – the Chinese lifter YU Linglong won the Gold in the Total with 206kg.

Youth World Champion in 2013, she Snatched 91kg – 1kg less than KOHA Rebeka (LAT), bronze medallist at the 2016 European World Championships.

All three bronze medals went to KAEWKHONG Supattra (THA), winning by bodyweight over KOHA ending with the same Total of 195kg.

In the Clean and Jerk, PAKKARATHA Rattanaphon (THA), Youth Olympic Champion in 2014, attempted 122kg to grab the gold, but failed to lift it. She ended 5kg behind the 15 year old YU Linglong (CHN).

The thing to be remembered about the Men’s 69kg are the 3 new Youth World Records set by CUMMUNGS JR Clarence (USA)!

Celebrating his birthday on 6 June 2016, the 16 years old CUMMINGS has reasons to celebrate. Ranked 4th in the Snatch with 137kg, he set the new Youth World Record in the Clean and Jerk twice. First at 175kg and second time at 180kg. The 3rd new Youth World Record was set in the Total – 317kg! This impressive result allowed him to stand on the top of the podium to get his well-deserved Gold Medal.

Second and third place was awarded to Japan. KONNAI Mitsunori (JPN) MIYAMOTO Masanori (JPN) both ended with 305kg and lighter bodyweight determined the color of the medal between the two. KONNAI got Silver while MIYAMOTO got bronze.

OKYAY Ahmet Turan (TUR) ending also on 305kg was the heavier than the two Japanese, and MOSQUERA LOZANO Jose David with 302kg finished 5th.
