Sharlene Nand – New President of Weightlifting Fiji

Top physiotherapist, Sharlene Nand, created history on Sunday. She became the first Women to be the President of Weightlifting Fiji.

Elected at the Weightlifting Fiji AGM held in the Fiji Olympic House, Sharlene started her sporting career with Team Fiji in 2003 and has been Team Fiji’s physiotherapist at the Beijing 2008 and the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Sharlene has always been involved in weightlifting, as a Team Fiji Medical Staff, at all Pacific Games since 2003 and as the Secretary of FASANOC Medical Commission. Weightlifting Fiji Executive since 2010 and Vice President, she wishes to take the sport to the next level.

Amongst the upcoming activities, Weightlifting Fiji is building a High Performance Centre in Levuka, sending 8 athletes to the Oceania Youth and Junior Championships, in Brisbane in July, sending 12 athletes to the Pacific Games and the Oceania Championships In Wallis & Futuna in September and will work with the Ministry for the development of its third center to be based in Kadavu.
