3rd Pacific Cup International – New Caledonia
The third Pacific Cup International Tournament was held on 12th December at the Oceania Weightlifting Institute in Mont Dore , New Caledonia . The competition attracted a large number of lifters and some very good performances were achieved by some of the Pacific lifters.
Itte Detenamo from Nauru, in the 105+kg category, totaled 390kg and won the best lifter award. Manueli Tulo from Fiji in the 56kg category set a new Oceania junior record with 105kg snatch. Narita Viliamu from Niue won the best female lifter with a total of 217kg in the 75+kg category.
This was also the first national championships held in weightlifting for New Caledonia .
