An Anti-Doping Seminar was organized from 14-19 Aug, 2017 in Ventspils Olympic Centre Latvia at the EWF North Europe Training Camp. The seminar was supported by the Latvian Anti-Doping Committee and Mrs. Vieda Lusa from the committee gave two hours of lecture all about aspects of doping. Athletes and coaches had the chance to receive information and refresh their knowledge in the field of Anti-Doping. During the round table meeting, coaches and athletes evaluated the training camp and seminar. The training camp was finished by the certificate ceremony. Kazakhstan and PRK hit further gold medals in Taipei

M77kg: Kazakhstan's KAZOV Aidar, after having been outsnatched by 5kg by Russian IARKIN Viacheslav, eventually cought up in the clean and jerk and beat his opponent with 331kg against the latter's 330kg. W63kg: PRK expectations wer once again met in this category where RIM Un Sim, younger sister of Olympic champion RIM Yong Sim, overwhelmed with 236kg on world championship silver medallist TURIEVA Tima of Russia. Two Universiade records fell again, one in snatch (106kg) and one in total

Technical Official Seminar held in Kathmandu, Nepal

A Technical Official Seminar was organized by the Asian Weightlifting Federation and IWF in Kathmandu on the occasion of the Asian Championships within the framework of the IWF Development Program on July 23, 2017. The IWF was represented by Mohammed JALOOD, IWF General Secretary and Intarat YODBANGTOEY, IWF 1st Vice President while other Asian leaders joined the Seminar as well. Lecturer Reiko Kato CHINEN, IWF Technical Committee member has given a complex lesson on the modified TCRR. The seminar was very interactive as the participants (in total around 60 people) completed a quiz on the Classification of Athletes. Ten minutes were given for them to solve the quiz and the answers were shown on screen. Ms. Chinen also talked about the Buenos Aires 2018 YOG Qualification System and about Continental Qualification. Information regarding IOC Agenda 2020 and IOC’s decision on Tokyo 2020 were also given.  Relevant to the topic, the importance of Anti-Doping was emphasized. Kuo Hsing-chun pins new world record in front of roaring home crowd

Weightlifting served the highlight of Day 2  at the Universiade with home favourite KUO Hsing-chun not only shattering the Universiade record tree but also pleasing the crowd with a sensational new world record clean and jerk of 142kg in the 58kg category. She finished with a 249kg total beating challengers from THA and PRK by a huge margin. Her outstanding performance was also a consolation to the host nation for the non-participation of Olympic champion HSU Shu-ching in 53kg (due to a recent injury). The chance thus opened was best made to use by PRK lifter RI Su Yon who triumphed with 208kg, just one kilo over silver medallist LIU Feng from China. The men competed in 69kg where Kazakhstan's LINDER Albert eventually defeated North-Korean KIM Myong Hyok by 2kgs in total. Closing Ceremony of Rio 2016

The closing ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympics was held on 21 August 2016 at the Maracana Stadium, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee officially closed the Games of the XXXI Olympiad after 16 days of competition, featuring 11,303 athletes exactly a year ago. The Rio Olympics ended with a spectacular carnival-inspired closing ceremony, and the official handover of the Olympic Flag to the host of the 2020 Olympics, Tokyo Japan.
