IWF World Cup was big hit in Oceania
The IWF World Cup held in Apia, Samoa boasted participation from 30 countries and 5 continents. In addition to the junior world record in the men's 69kg category, several Commonwealth and Oceania records were established. Live television coverage reached not only the islands in the Oceania Region but even China. Prize money in a total value of 31,500 AUD was distributed. World Cup opens in Samoa
In an Opening Ceremony held in fantastic Pacific atmosphere and in a packed hall, Samoa's President of State opened the IWF World Cup in Apia. An event that is included in the Olympic Qualifiation ranking, the World Cup welcomes participants from all over the world and dignitaries from the IWF and Continental Federations. Right on the first day of competition, LIAO Hui (CHN) set a new junior clean and jerk world record in 69kg with 190kg: the very first world record established in the Pacific Region - including ALL sports.
