Nomination of a candidate for WADA Presidency

The EB decided to nominate Sir Craig Reedie as the Olympic Movement’s official candidate to become the next President of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The other two candidates who were vying for nomination by the EB were Patrick Schamasch and Edwin Moses. FDA: Vitamin B-50 Supplement Tests Positive for Steroids

Kelley The FDA has cautioned against using a vitamin B-50 supplement sold online and in stores (Healthy Life Chemistry by Purity First) because it has tested positive for two potentially harmful anabolic steroids — dimethazine and methasterone. The warning follows 29 reports of supplement-related adverse incidents, including fatigue, myalgia, missed menstruation (in women) and low testosterone (in men). The manufacturer has refused a request to recall the product voluntarily, Reuters reports. Clinicians should question patients about their dietary supplement use, especially patients displaying warning signs and adverse reactions associated with steroid use (e.g., blood clots, kidney failure, liver injury, stroke).

Competition participation

IN-COMPETITION TESTING  The IWF wants to call all athletes’ and team officials’ attention regarding IN-COMPETITION testing. Athletes may not leave the venue after finishing their competition without checking out at the Doping Control Officers (DCOs). In case the DCOs cannot be located the athlete shall report to the President of the Jury. In case an athlete violates the above stated he/she is risking the violation of IWF Anti-Doping Rules. Medal Transfer – To the rightful owner

In a simple, but very significant ceremony, the Vice President of the Puerto Rico Weightlifting Federation, Mr. Jose Delerme, awards three medals to Rusmeris Villar Barbosa (COL) for her victory in the 53kg category at the San Salvador CUP held in 2010. The puertorrican athlete, who won these medals was found with an Adverse Analytical Result, therefore transferred the medals to the rightful owner, Villar from Colombia. Serves as witness the head coach of the Colombian National team, Mr. Osvaldo Pirillo. All this happened during the Pan American Championships 2013 at Isla Margarita, Venezuela.   A la verdadera ganadora En una simple, pero significativa ceremonia, el Sr. José Delerme, Vicepresidente de la Federación de Halterofilia de Puerto Rico le hace entrega a Rusmery Villar tres medallas por su victoria en la categoría de los 53kg en la Copa San Salvador celebrada en el 2010.
