The IWF reports that the sample of Ms. Thi Phuong DUONG (VIE) has returned an Adverse Analytical Finding for 19-Norandrosterone (S1.1 Anabolic Agents). As a consequence, the Athlete is provisionally suspended in view of a potential anti-doping rule violation. No positive test results at the 2017 IWF Junior World Championships

The IWF is pleased to announce that no prohibited substances were detected in any of the samples collected at the IWF JWC. The event featured 256 athletes, out of which a total of 166 tests were conducted including 43 blood and 123 urine during the IWF JWC between 15-23 June 2017 in Tokyo, Japan. The test distribution plan of the Event was carefully elaborated by the IWF Anti-Doping Commission which appointed the Japan Anti-Doping Agency to be the Sample Collection Authority of the IWF JWC. All analyses were conducted by the WADA-accredited Laboratory of Tokyo in Japan with the use of the most sophisticated detection methods. The successful Anti-Doping Outreach created in joint efforts with the Japan Anti-Doping Agency (JADA) on the occasion of the 2017 IWF JWC as well as the Education Seminar organized on site both aiming to provide useful knowledge for the participants strengthened the IWF’s efforts in its committed fight against doping. Anti-Doping Technical visit in preparation for the 2017 IWF WWC

The International Weightlifting Federation delegation paid a visit to Colorado Springs for the first time ever. The visit marks a historical trip since there had never been any technical visits before dedicated only to Anti-Doping purposes. For these reasons, IWF's visit to coordinate the Event Testing and Education with the United States Anti-Doping Agency is a sign of IWF's strong commitment to Clean Sport. The IWF Technical visit was led by Dr. Patrick Schamasch, Anti-Doping Commission Chairman joined by Dr. Eva Nyirfa Legal Counsel and Dr. Lilla Sagi Junior Legal Counsel. As part of the Organizing Committee, the USA Weightlifting hub hosted the meetings successfully. Membership of the IWF Clean Sport Commission confirmed

The International Weightlifting Federation is pleased to announce that the composition of the Clean Sport Commission which has been set up further to the IWF Executive Board’s decision of 14 June 2017 in Tokyo, JPN is now confirmed. The Commission is tasked to advise the Executive Board on further improvements of the IWF Anti-Doping Program following the assessment and analysis of what yet has been accomplished. The IWF firmly believes that the expertise of the highly qualified independent professionals involved in the work of the Commission guarantees and further deepens the IWF’s continued innovative and constructive approach towards its steadfast fight for clean sport. Thorough and multiple-layered analysis is assured by the diversity of the Commission’s composition as it unites various Stakeholders of the field of Anti-Doping, such as: Athlete Representative, Representative of the World Anti-Doping Agency, Sports Law Experts, Laboratory Experts, Representatives of a National Anti-Doping Agency and Representatives of the IWF Bodies. Be a Real Champion and Lift CLEAN! and Jerk – Olympians at the IWF- JADA Anti-Doping Outreach

Be a Real Champion! Lift CLEAN! and Jerk – These are the mottos of the Japan Anti-Doping Agency (JADA) and the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) for the Anti-Doping Outreach which was established for Athletes and Officials during the IWF Junior World Championships. 193 participants (21 Countries) have signed the Fight against Doping Flag brought to the audience by JADA as a representation of the true values of the sport of weightlifting. Athletes and Officials had the chance to try their knowledge in the field of Anti-Doping with a special Anti-Doping quiz created by the IWF in 5 languages, such as English, Spanish, Russian, French and Japanese. The participants also had the opportunity to ask questions about Anti-Doping including ADAMS and Therapeutic Use Exemptions to the Anti-Doping Experts of JADA and IWF. Anti-Doping Seminar in Kenya

Within the framework of IWF Development Program Kenya Amateur Weightlifting Association organized an Anti-Doping Seminar in Nairobi, Kenya in May, 2017. The seminar was conducted by presenters from Kenya Anti-Doping Agency, Kenyatta University and Kenyatta National Hospital and altogether 16 coaches from various weightlifting clubs attended. Presentations covered a lot of topics such as using ADAMS, doping control processes and procedures, prohibited list, physical and health consequences of doping. Mr. John Ogolla, General Secretary said: "All the coaches who participated confirmed that the knowledge they gained was useful.
