CAS timeline BUL case

As announced by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in a media release dated 8 December 2015, the Bulgarian Weightlifting Federation has filed an appeal at CAS against a decision issued by the International Weightlifting Federation on 9 November 2015 in which it was fined USD 500,000 and banned from entering the next ensuing Youth Olympic/Olympic Games after 11 of its athletes were found to have committed anti-doping rule violations. The Parties have agreed on a procedural calendar in order to have this arbitration adjudicated in an expedited manner. The CAS is expected to issue its decision by end of January 2016. IWF visit in Rio

The IWF team with IOC colleagues successfully conducted the Olympic Results and Information Services (ORIS) Homologation Test in Rio de Janeiro. The competition management system to be used at the XXXI Olympic Games will be provided by Omega, same as for the 2012 London Olympic Games.. During the 2 days test in the Rio 2016 IT Laboratory all procedures, documents and exceptional situation have been tested and approved. Following the ORIS Homologation Test, a Technical Delegate visit was held supervising the preparations, with special focus on the Test Event, Venue drawings, Sport Equipment, Athlete & TO Services, Broadcast, etc. The team left Rio with a positive impression and the IWF is looking forward to return to Rio in April 2016 for the Test Event: Aquece Rio - South American
