Rodmar Pulis Received the Malta Olympic Committee Special Award

In December the Malta Olympic Committee organized the 10th edition of the Sport Malta Awards where Rodmar Pulis received the MOC Special Award for his outstanding success reached in weightlifting trough 2011. Rodmar Pulis and Nicole Gatt weightlifters are both in semi-final for the 2011 Sport Malta Awards for the Best Youth Athlete. Jesmond Caruana weightlifting TO is in the semi-final for the Best Official of the year. The Sport Malta Awards will be held on Saturday 21st January 2012. Link to Malta Sport Awards:

London 2012 marks 200 days to go

With exactly 200 days to go until the Games, the London 2012 Organising Committee (LOCOG) has today outlined the next stages in preparing for the two biggest sporting events on the planet this summer.   Following completion by the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) of the main structures on the Olympic Park, the site will now officially be handed over to LOCOG to begin transforming it into a fully-operational venue.   Dennis Hone, ODA Chief Executive, said: 'We hand the Olympic Park to the Organising Committee fully confident that they will continue pressing ahead on their preparations so that London 2012 becomes a brilliant once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and experience for everyone involved.'   LOCOG will now commence 'ramping-up' work to fit out venues and stage testing and licensing events. Turkish Weightlifting Federation Grand Prix

The Turkish Weightlifting Federation organized a Turkish Grand Prix in conjunction with a Referee and Coaching Seminar on 21-25 December 2011 at the Miracle Hotel (5 stars) in Antalya. 80 coaches and 80 referees were invited to participate in the two seminars. Top 10 lifters were invited in all bodyweight categories and Prize Money was given to medal winners. Gold medal was awarded with 1000 USD, silver with 700 USD and bronze with 420 USD. All expenses were paid by the Turkish Weightlifting Federation (hotel rooms, meals and transportation).
