IWF interviews IOC President Thomas Bach – Weightlifting embraces Olympic Agenda 2020

On 24 March, Thomas Bach, IOC President gave an exclusive interview to the crew of the IWF and Hungarian Television, as well as to World Weightlifting at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne. Answering questions by Anikó Németh-Móra, IWF Director, the IOC President confirmed that weightlifting has made its contributions to the Olympic Movement and highlighted some of the immediate impacts of the Olympic Agenda 2020, among those the changes in the Olympic Games Bidding process or the increased manifestation of sustainability in the staging and the management of the Games. Dr. Roy Sinclair father of the “Sinclair Bodyweight Formula” passed away

On March 19, 2015, Roy Sinclair passed away at the age of 85 years. Roy will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Lori (Bruce); granddaughter, Jenna; sister, Barbara; and his special friend, June. Roy had a grand thirst for knowledge, earning his PhD in Mathematics at MIT. He then shared that knowledge as a Mathematics Professor at the University of Alberta. Dr. Roy Sinclair made a significant contribution to the International Weightlifting Federation with his "Sinclair Bodyweight Formula", which is used world-wide. Roy was also inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame for his many contributions to the sport of weightlifting. A Funeral Service in memory of Roy will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton. Technical Visit preparing the IWF Junior World Championships Wroclaw, Poland

The IWF proceeded to its first Technical Visit in preparation for the IWF Junior World Championships Wroclaw, Poland. Szymon Kolecki, PZPC President and his colleagues welcomed Attila Adamfi, IWF Director General and Lilla Rozgonyi, IWF Communication and Marketing Director. Topics of discussion were as follows: The Accommodation of the Teams will be at the ORBIS Wroclaw Hotel just as it was the case for the 2013 IWF World Championships The competition venue will be the Hala Sportowo-Widowiskowa "Orbita" Besides accommodation, and venue specific matters, the same experienced team from PZPC will welcome the participants. During the Technical Visit, the city of Wierzbno, hometown of PZPC President Szymon Kolecki inaugurated a sporting hall and named it after him. The IWF is happy to return to Wroclaw after the huge success of the past competition.
