Two Senior, seven Junior World Records

Chinese CHEN Lijun defended his World Champion title in Total at the World Championships in Thailand on Friday, achieving this despite he was not first in either of the lifts. Surprisingly, the gold went to the winner of the B group, also Chinese FENG Lyudong.

In the Clean and Jerk, ISMAYILOV didn’t perform well, but CHEN and PAK Jong Ju (PRK) fought a rather close battle. The Chinese lifter bettered his own World Record from 185kg to 187kg at his third lift, but PAK topped this at his final attempt and cleaned 188kg. This way, North-Korea won this lift, and third behind CHEN, the 20-years-old ERGASHEV Adkhamjon (UZB) with 182kg. Ont he way, ERGASHEV set not less than 7 Junior World Records.

FIGUEROA MOSQUERA Oscar Albeiro (COL), 2016 Rio Olympic Champion also participated, but only got to the tenth place.
