There was a tense competition between four lifters, two Thai and two Chinese in the women’s 49kg bodyweight category.

Rio 2016 Olympic Champion and 2017 World Champion TANASAN Sopita (THA) took the lead in the Snatch. With three good lifts she secured a Gold Medal setting the new World Record at 93kg.

HUO Zhihui (CHN) ended with the same result in the Snatch. She missed one attempt at 92kg.

Her compatriot (still Junior) JIANG Huihuan ended up third, setting a Junior World Record with her 87kg first attempt. JIANG made it a good lift with her second attempt at 90kg as well as the third at 92kg.

TANASAN missed her last attempt at 109kg. Her last secured lift was 108kg landing her forth in both the Clean and Jerk and in the Total.

„I am happy with today’s result. I did not expect any more or less” – she said following the competition.

PRAMONGKHOL Chayuttra (THA) proved to be undefeatable in the Clean and Jerk. She only came out twice hitting the highest numbers. Going for 115kg and 120kg, she defeated the HUO Zhihui. The Chinese lifter came up second in both the Clean and Jerk and in the Total (208kg).

PRAMONGKHOL Chayuttra (THA) set two World Records – to 120kg in the Clean and Jerk and to 209 in the Total while winning the Gold.
