Gold and Bronze for Vietnam, Silver for Colombia

Impressive competition went on between the two Vietnamese lifters LAI and NGO. First being 2018 Asian Junior Champion and second being 2018 Asian Youth Champion, the two competed for the Junior World Champion title in the Men’s 56kg.

LAI Gia Thanh (VIE) came out last when all other athletes already took their attempts in the Snatch. He started at 118kg and failed at first, but made it look easy with his second attempt. He came out for a third lift at 122kg – good one.

This gave him a 5kg advantage over GARCIA PEREZ.

Taking Bronze in the Snatch, Pan-American Youth Champion in 2017, GARCIA PEREZ Jairo Luis (COL) made it three good lifts while NGO Son Dinh (VIE) had only one good lift in the Snatch – 113kg – still enough for a Bronze.

Starting his Clean and Jerk at 134kg, Colombian lifter GARCIA PEREZ Jairo Luis (COL) missed his first lift and was only able to control that same weight at his second attempt. Ending with a Total of 254kg, he managed to grab the Silver Medal ahead of NGO.

Ranking third after the Snatch, NGO had only one good lift in the Clean and Jerk – 136kg. An injury during his second attempt kept him away from the platform preventing him from coming out for a third one. With his Total of 249kg, he still managed to take the third place of the podium and a well deserved Bronze.

His compatriot LAI had only one good lift in the Clean and Jerk – 144kg – sealing his victory with three Gold Medals. His Total in 2017 was 249kg that he improved with 17kg this year.

Going for 135kg-138kg-143kg, LIM Kanghun (KOR) won a Silver Medal in the Clean and Jerk after ranking 5th in the Snatch.
