Mohammad Ali Falahatinejad passed away

Mohammad Ali Falahatinejad former Iranian weightlifter was born on July 15, 1976 in Tehran dies at the age of 41. He was hospitalized in Tehran’s Omid Hospital last week after he was diagnosed with a bad kidney infection.

Falahatinejad finished third in the men’s 77kg bodyweight category at the 2002 Asian Games Busan, South Korea. He claimed the second place in the same bodyweight category at the 2003 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Qinhuangdao, China and won his Gold Medal in the men’s 77 kg bodyweight category the same year in 2003 World Weightlifting Championships in Vancouver, Canada, with a Total of 357,5 kg.

The burial ceremony for the Iranian weightlifter was held in the Luminaries’ Section of Behesht-e Zahra, Iran’s largest cemetery located in southern Tehran, on Tuesday.

The IWF presents its sincere condolences to the Family of Mr. Mohammad Ali Falahatinejad as well as to the Iranian Weightlifting Federation.
