First day – a medal for Japan

W48kg – SUKCHAROEN defended her title

2016 Junior World Champion SUKCHAROEN Thunya (THA) had no contenders in the Women’s 48kg. She showed her supremacy in the Snatch and only came out for one successful attempt in the Clean and Jerk making it a good lift at 97kg.

She won the three available Gold Medals leaving second place to her fellow Thai teammate NANTHAWONG Chirapan (THA). With her Total of 174kg – 5kg less than SUKCHAROEN – she ended ahead of OLIVEIRA MADEIRA Luana (BRA) ranking only 6th in the Clean and Jerk. The advantage taken by the Brazilian lifter in the Snatch seemed to be enough for the third place in the Total with 169kg.

M56kg – Japan made it to the podium

Taking an advantage of 11kg in the Snatch with 120kg, the Chinese lifter WANG Hao (CHN) won the Gold easily even if he only managed to grab third place in the Clean and Jerk.

After a Bronze in the Snatch, LAI Gia Thanh (VIE) won the Gold in the Clean and Jerk with 140kg. Japan made it to the podium as MASHIKO Hiroyuki (JPN) having 6 good stood up on the third place of the podium to be handed over the Bronze for his Total of 244kg.

Third in the Snatch with 109kg, GUNGOR Isa (TUR) only reached the 9th place in the Clean and Jerk and ranked 6th in the Total.
