Final Entries for Houston are up
5 London Olympic Champions and 10 Almaty World Champions announced to compete
The Final Entry List for the 2015 IWF World Championships Houston, USA has been published on our website.
As Qualification Event for the 2016 Olympic Games, this competition is the most important milestone on the road leading to Rio.
The George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston will stage from 20-28 November the 82nd Men’s and 25th Women’s World Championships.
The Verification of the Final Entries will set the final numbers on 18 November at 18:00, but according to the Final Entries, we have now 745 athletes from 105 countries who will compete in Houston.
Paris 2011 topped the number of participating countries with 87, and Athens 1999 topped the participating athletes with 626 lifters. Considering the impressive figures, the Record participation is still expected.
The 2015 IWF World Championships will showcase countries never or rarely seen on the occasion of such competition:
Afghanistan, Curacao, Estonia, Guam, Kiribati, Kosovo, Marshall Islands, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Sierra Leone, Cook Islands, Aruba, Island, Lebanon, Nicaragua, Solomon Islands.

Among others, we will miss: 2008 Olympic Champion LIAO Hui (CHN), 2012 Olympic Champion SALIMIKORDASIABI Behdad (IRI) who will not compete due to an injury as well as two times Olympic Champion ILYIN Ilya (KAZ), 2012 Olympic Champion CHINSHANLO Zulfiya (KAZ) and 2012 Olympic Champion ZHOU Lulu (CHN).
The list contains all the Athletes who were entered as possible participants for the Event, however the IWF retains the right to decide on the athletes’ and MFs’ eligibility in line with the respective IWF Rules and Regulations.
