Changes in the Weightlifting Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2014
Since the Presidency was taken over by Zhanat Tussupbekov, a lot of changes and projects were implemented to promote and develop weightlifting in Kazakhstan.
In 2013 there were 6 regional weightlifting federations (hereafter RWFs) functioning on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. And only 3 of them were members of Weightlifting Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan (hereafter WFRK).
In 2014 RWFs were established in all 14 provinces of the country and in 2 cities of republican status. All 16 RWFs were welcomed into the ranks of WFRK and became full members of the republican weightlifting movement.
Today functions of all RWFs are consolidated and directed for the purpose of weightlifting development.
In 2014, a Sports and recreation complex was opened in Turkestan city and a specialized regional boarding school for children gifted in sports in Petropavlovsk was also inaugurated. A weightlifting gym was renovated and opened In Zyryanovsk town.
For the past 6 months newly established Regional Weightlifting Federations were able to renovate sports facilities in various towns.
WFRK plans the construction of the Palace of Weightlifting. The Palace is planned to be located either at Soldiers Gorge of Almaty Province (middle mountains) or at the resort area “Zerenda” of Akmola Province (plains). The budget of 45 Million USD (!) is currently projected and reviewed.
Together with Zhanat Tussupbekov, WFRK President, Dr. Tamas Ajan will lay the First stone in the construction of the Palace of Weightlifting during the 2014 IWF World Championships in Almaty.
In 2014, due to the efficiant management, new marketing model and new development strategy, there the number of athletes participating in competitions doubled in Kazakhstan.
In collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers, a Development Strategy of the Weightlifting Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan was prepared in compliance with the goals and objectives of the Development Program of Physical Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
WFKR established an Anti-doping Policy Committee to systemize the approach of the Weightlifting Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in regards to control, early warning and provision of adequate punishment for violations.
