New Guidelines and Documents

The IWF has launched new guidelines in order to assist the athletes and the officials to follow the regulation of the IWF. All of them are available under the Guidelines /Manuals. Nationality Change Procedure In case an Athlete wants to change its nationality and represent a new country at international competitions they are required to follow the IWF procedure. This guideline provides a clear picture to each situation and gives practical advices to the Athletes. Therapeutic Use Exemption Procedure Athletes may find themselves in a situation that requires the use of particular medications or treatments, and they can also get ill. In these situations they could be required to use substances or methods for the treatment which are on the Prohibited List. In order to avoid a doping violation in these cases the Athletes need to apply for a Therapeutic Use Exemption. Amended 2014 Prohibited List in force September 1

Prohibited List 2014 WADA has completed its amendment to Section S2.1 of the 2014 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods. Hypoxia-Inducible Factor (HIF) activators Xenon and Argon have been added to the 2014 Prohibited List, following the required three-month notice period and UNESCO’s communication to all States Parties. The recommendation to revise the List was made and approved by WADA’s Executive Committee during its May meeting. The change to the List reads as follows: S2. PEPTIDE HORMONES, GROWTH FACTORS AND RELATED SUBSTANCES The following substances, and other substances with similar chemical structure or similar biological effect(s), are prohibited: 1. Erythropoiesis-Stimulating Agents [e.g. erythropoietin (EPO), darbepoetin (dEPO), hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) stabilizers and activators (e.g. xenon, argon), methoxy polyethylene glycol-epoetin beta (CERA), peginesatide (Hematide)].
