Two World Records for THACH Kim Tuan

Altogether 269 athletes from 49 countries – 115 Women and 149 Men participate in the 2014 Junior World Championships Kazan, RUS held at the Palace of Sport – venue of the competition.

Competition kicked off today with the Women’s 48kg bodyweight category.

In the Snatch, the Chinese lifter WEI Chengji had no opponent. Lifting 83kg, she ended first while the Indonesian lifter AUGUSTIANI Sri Wahyuni 81kg. Third place went to KOHA Rebeka (LAT) winning by bodyweight on AHMET Heba Saleh Mahmoud (EGY).

WEI couldn’t control 104kg for her second and third attempts in the Clean & Jerk, therefor she ended on her starting weight of 100kg. She was awarded the Silver Medal in the Clean & Jerk and in the Total.

Asian Championships Silver AUGUSTIANI won the Gold in the Total with 186kg while 3rd place went to the Egyptian lifter also third at the 2013 IWF Youth World Championships.

Men’s 56kg

The Vietnamese lifter, 20 year old THACH Kim Tuan increased his first attempt with an impressive 13kg in the Snatch setting a new Junior World Record with 133kg.

Asian Junior and Youth Champion, Youth Olympic Gold Medallist at the 2010 Singapore YOG, he secured his Gold in the Total with a 146kg Clean & Jerk. He increased his second attempt to 160kg and broke the Total World Record with 293kg.

The previous record holder in the Snatch as well as in the Total was LONG Quingquan (CHN) setting both of them at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

Silver Medal went to KRUAITHONG Sinphet (THA) with 255kg. SCARANTINO Mirco (ITA) won the Silver Medal on bodyweight in the Snatch, but this same bodyweight gave him the third place in the Total.
